Yahoo DFS Baseball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

There's rain expected all day in Pittsburgh and Baltimore, so I'm avoiding both of those games. There are still plenty of quality pitchers, and I even found one at the bottom of the barrel. And while there are some younger arms set to start, I went against a lot of the known ones that are struggling.

PITCHER

Patrick Corbin, ARI vs. CHC ($49): Corbin is my favorite of the high-end pitchers as he's hit 18 fantasy points in his last 10 starts and carved the Cubs for nine Ks when he saw them in July. Chicago continues to struggle against southpaws with a 25.6 K%, .107 ISO and .275 wOBA in the last month.

Erick Fedde, WAS at MIA ($28): Fedde is more of a GPP play given his price, but there's reason to believe in him with 16 strikeouts in his last two starts. Even better is that he's a favorite against the Marlins, which are near the bottom of most lists in the last month with a 23.3 K%, .117 ISO and .279 wOBA against righty arms.

CATCHER

Manny Pina, MIL vs. CIN ($9): Pina comes cheap, yet he's sporting a .451 OBP in his last 51 plate appearances against righties and that's worth trying if he gets the start. Anthony DeSclafani has had some issues, failing to make it more than 4.2 innings in his last three starts to go with 18 hits and 11 runs allowed. If Pina doesn't start, Matt Wieters ($12) is also in the mix.

FIRST BASE

Max Muncy, LAD vs. COL ($19): Muncy has returned to relevance in the past month with a .459 OBP against righties standing out, which matches well with a .328 ISO and .405 wOBA for the season. Jon Gray hasn't made it more than four innings in his last two starts and has a .338 wOBA allowed to lefties.

SECOND BASE

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. SEA ($15): Until Altuve's price goes up, I'll keep recommending him. He has a .407 OBP in his last 27 plate appearances against lefties and more importantly he's only a year removed from a .209 ISO and .412 wOBA. It also helps that he's 4-for-7 in his career against Wade LeBlanc and the lefty hurler has a 4.60 xFIP against righty bats this year.

THIRD BASE

Anthony Rendon, WAS at MIA ($20): Rendon's been roping as of late with a .427 OBP in his last 103 plate appearances against righties to go with a .197 ISO and .367 wOBA for the season. That won't help Trevor Richards, who has given up 10 runs and 11 hits in his last two starts and has a brutal 1.79 HR/9 allowed to righties.

SHORTSTOP

Carlos Correa, HOU vs. SEA ($9): Correa is another Houston bat that comes at a discount mainly because he's battled injuries most of the year. At the least, he has a .383 OBP against lefties and has gotten on base in each of his last nine games. LeBlanc hasn't had much success against the Astros this year, allowing nine runs and 13 hits in 9.1 innings of two August starts.

OUTFIELD

Juan Soto, WAS at MIA ($21): Soto is another big bat for Washington in a game that could get away from Richards. The righty pitcher is struggling and has a 4.86 xFIP against lefties. Soto has a .490 BABIP in his last 98 plate appearances against righties and a .410 wOBA for the season.

Jake Cave, MIN at DET ($16): Cave is always worth a look against iffy righties given his price. He has a solid .217 ISO and .347 wOBA against them and Jordan Zimmermann is unpredictable on the mound. Zimmermann gave up eight hits to the Twins in their only meeting this year and a 1.79 HR/9 allowed to lefties won't help against Cave.

Robbie Grossman, MIN at DET ($10): Grossman is on a nice run with a .377 OBP and .347 BABIP in his last 62 plate appearances against righty arms and that's good enough as a cheap bat. Zimmermann gave up four runs in his last start and has a .332 wOBA allowed to lefty hitters.
