Belisle struggled to begin last season in a setup role with a 5.82 ERA, 6.9 K/9 and 4.8 BB/9 in 34 innings before the All-Star break. The Twins stuck with him, however, and he was praised for his veteran leadership. He improved in the second half and took over as Minnesota's closer in August after Brandon Kintzler was traded. Belisle thrived in the role, converting 9-of-11 save chances (giving him 14 saves in 14 MLB seasons) with a 2.55 ERA and 9.9 K/9. Despite his success in the closer role last season, Belisle hasn't had dominant enough strikeout rates late in his career to think he'll be given a shot in the ninth inning with whichever team he signs with in free agency. The 37-year-old's plus slider makes up for the fact that his 91-mph fastball is below average by modern right-handed reliever standards. He proved last year that he can still be a useful big-league bullpen piece, but that was probably the height of his fantasy usefulness.
