DraftKings MLB: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Zack Greinke, ARI vs. LAD ($11,200): Greinke has been on a nice run of late, tossing 16 consecutive scoreless innings over his last two starts. There is a good chance that he will be able to keep the magic going against the Dodgers, as they are a bottom-10 team against righties and have the fourth-lowest fly ball rate in the league.

R.A. Dickey, TOR vs. PHI ($7,400): The unpredictability of the knuckleball usually has me shying away from pitchers like Dickey, but the veteran has been solid since the start of May, logging a 2.81 ERA in eight starts over that span. Dickey has had trouble with walks of late, but the Phillies hold the fourth-worst walk rate against right-handed pitchers this year.

CATCHER

Robinson Chirinos, TEX at OAK ($2,800): Chirinos didn't do much in his first two games since recovering from a broken forearm, but he has always handled lefties well, holding a .222 ISO over 194 career at-bats. Opposing starter Sean Manaea has been hammered by righties over his young career, surrendering a .382 wOBA over 35 innings.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs. LAD ($5,100): Opposing starter Mike Bolsinger has had trouble keeping the ball in the park against righties, allowing four home runs in just 12 innings. Goldschmidt hasn't quite been the threat we saw last year, but his .383 wOBA against same-handed pitchers is more than enough to allow us to pay up with confidence.

SECOND BASE

Derek Dietrich, MIA at SD ($3,600):Colin Rea has shown decent peripherals against righties this season, but his walk rate soars to 11 percent against lefties, while he strikes out less than 15 percent of the batters he faces. Dietrich has been a handful for righties this season, notching a .376 wOBA and a hard contact rate close to 33 percent.

THIRD BASE

Nick Castellanos, DET at CWS ($4,100): The first run of the James Shields at U.S. Cellular Field experiment went about as expected, as he allowed seven runs on eight hits over just two innings. Castellanos has hit righties almost exclusively this season, and he will bring his extreme fly ball tendencies against Shields' 48 percent ground ball rate.

SHORTSTOP

Marcus Semien, OAK vs. TEX ($3,700):Yu Darvish is skipping a start to deal with some shoulder tightness, which means DFS players get the chance to pick on a mediocre lefty from the bullpen in Cesar Ramos. Semien has showed impressive power against southpaws this season, notching a .286 ISO over 42 at-bats.

OUTFIELD

Jay Bruce, CIN at ATL ($4,900):Aaron Blair should be considered a stack option whenever he takes the hill. This is especially true against lefties, as he carries a ridiculous 6.74 xFIP over 17.2 innings. Bruce and his .318 ISO against right-handers should be able to dig in against Blair's seven percent strikeout rate.

Robbie Grossman, MIN at LAA ($3,300): It's a safe bet that Grossman probably won't slug .623 all season, but it's hard to discount him entirely, as he has held a 35 percent hard contact rate and .290 ISO over 21 games. Jered Weaver will take the mound having allowed nine home runs to lefty hitters over 29.2 innings.

Ryan Braun, MIL at SF ($3,900): We will try to pick on Matt Cain in his return from the disabled list. Cain had shown some improvement prior to injuring his hamstring, but he still caries an xFIP over 5.00 against righties. Braun boasts one of the most extreme ground ball profiles in the game, which should serve him well against Cain's 41 percent fly ball rate.

Other options: Adam Duvall, CIN at ATL ($4,600) Giancarlo Stanton, MIA at SD ($3,900) Ian Desmond, TEX at OAK ($4,900)
