FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Dallas Keuchel, HOU vs. TAM ($8,700): Keuchel's results at home are significantly better than his overall profile, making him a sneaky-good play any time he takes the mound in Houston. He has a 3.70 ERA overall at Minute Maid Park this season and has recorded a quality start in six of his last seven starts there. The only team that managed to get the lefty off his game was the fourth-ranked Cardinals offense, and Tampa Bay's bottom 10 unit lacks the firepower to match their effectiveness. Take advantage of the buy-low opportunity created by his early-season bad luck and road struggles.

CATCHER

Stephen Vogt, OAK at STL ($2,800): Vogt hasn't dominated right-handers as much as in years past but the left-handed side of Oakland's catcher platoon is likely to channel his old form against Cardinals starter Mike Leake. Leake has been taking a beating at home, allowing 15 earned runs over 24 innings in his last four outings at Busch Stadium. If St. Louis' righty continues his subpar play, the Athletics' three-hole hitter makes for a strong candidate to drive their offense at a bargain price.

FIRST BASE

Xavier Scruggs, MIA vs. SDP ($2,000): Conventional wisdom suggests the right-handed Scruggs prefers to face left-handed pitching, further amplifying his already impressive bang for the buck. The minimum-priced first baseman costs less than half as much as some top options at the position but has the power to outproduce them after smashing 21 homers in 93 games at the Triple-A level and another one in his first six appearances for the Marlins. He won't be this cheap for long, so take advantage of this opportunity against mediocre southpaw Clayton Richard.

SECOND BASE

Jason Kipnis, CLE at TEX ($3,800): With a .355 wOBA and nine of his 11 steals coming against right-handers, Kipnis has been his usual productive self batting second for the Indians. His strong campaign should continue against the struggling A.J. Griffin, who has given up 14 runs over 17 innings in his last three starts and has gone 12 straight outings without a quality start. Griffin's poor performance suggests Cleveland won't be short on runs, and Kipnis is a key cog for their offense.

THIRD BASE

Martin Prado, MIA vs. SDP ($2,700): Prado has torn left-handed pitching apart with a .458 wOBA and Richard represents a below-average opponent on the mound considering he has allowed a .350 wOBA to right-handed bats since debuting in 2008. Miami's third baseman ranks among the best hitters in the league in this split and a reliever-turned-starter with a 4.44 ERA is unlikely to slow him down. Don't make this decision more complicated than it needs to be.

SHORTSTOP

Francisco Lindor, CLE at TEX ($3,600): As mentioned with Kipnis, Rangers starter Griffin comes in riding an extended cold streak that has only been getting worse of late. Lindor has been arguably Cleveland's best player this season with a team-leading 83 runs and a solid 64 RBI and prefers to face righties based on his .350 wOBA in that split. Look for him to play a large role in a game in which the Indians will probably score early and often.

OUTFIELD

Lorenzo Cain, KAN at BOS ($3,100): Regardless of what southpaw the opposition throws at him, Cain makes for a strong play thanks to his .442 wOBA against lefties. Seeing the name David Price may scare some people off but the Boston ace's 4.00 ERA shows that he hasn't been much better than your average starter, just with a higher strikeout rate. Get a leg up on those who shy away from the right fielder by utilizing him as usual in this situation.

Mookie Betts, BOS vs. KAN ($4,300): With 10 homers among his 48 hits in the last 33 games, Betts has been carrying the Red Sox and fantasy owners alike for a while now. He generally makes for a good investment any time you can afford him, with a career wOBA over .350 against pitchers from both sides. This is especially true at the hitter-friendly Fenway Park, where Betts has a tremendous .403 wOBA.

Charlie Blackmon, COL at WAS ($3,900): Colorado shouldn't have problems generating offense against A.J. Cole, who has a 5.51 career ERA after four major league appearances. Blackmon has a .387 wOBA against right-handers so he should be able to contribute plenty of production in this particularly favorable matchup. With at least one hit in 14 straight starts and a total of 28 hits in that span, his recent form indicates a high likelihood of success.
