FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Tyler Chatwood, COL at PIT ($8,000): Chatwood's numbers away from Coors both this season and last are pretty good. He has a 2.53 ERA on the road this season (.264 wOBA against) after having a 1.69 ERA on the road last season (.253 wOBA against). This season the Pirates appear to be a good team to pick on as they are in the bottom third of the league with a .313 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Their .141 ISO against righties is the third worst mark in baseball.

Catcher

Matt Wieters, WAS vs ATL ($2,400): R.A. Dickey seems like a good pitcher to pick on and this is a way to get a very cheap piece of the Nationals lineup. Wieters has been hitting in the sixth spot in the lineup with the four players in front of him boasting OBP numbers of .400, .388, .380 and .430, providing him with good RBI opportunities. Dickey has a 4.73 ERA that is justified by his career worsts in strikeout rate (4.98 K/9) and walk rate (4.23 BB/9).

First Base

Marwin Gonzalez, HOU vs TEX ($3,300): Nick Martinez will toe the rubber for the Rangers tonight and Gonzalez has absolutely crushed right-handed pitching this season, especially at home. Gonzalez at home this season against right-handed pitching has a ridiculous .458 wOBA, while Martinez has struggled on the road this season. Martinez has a .372 wOBA on the road against left-handed hitting after posting a .413 mark last season, albeit both in limited samples.

Second Base

Brandon Drury, ARI at DET ($2,400): The middle infield positions are tough ones to find value in tonight, but Drury is a good play at this price. He's scored at least six fantasy points in each of his last six games, and in three of those games he scored at least 21.7 fantasy points. He's hit home runs in two straight games (three out of five) and Buck Farmer isn't a pitcher to worry about quite yet.

Robinson Cano, SEA at MIN ($3,100): This seems like way too cheap a price for Cano, who is tied for fourth among regular second baseman scoring at 11.5 fantasy points per game. Cano continues to crush right-handed pitching with a .374 wOBA against that handedness this season, right in line with his career .379 mark. Kyle Gibson is a good pitcher to pick on (feel free to use Kyle Seager too) who has given up a .431 wOBA to left-handed hitters at home this season after owning a .369 mark last season.

Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs LAD ($2,700): Ok, he is in no way a cash game option, but this will be the cheapest price you'll find Lindor at all season so he's a GPP consideration. Clayton Kershaw is human and will be on the road, where he's had his worst career splits against right-handed hitters. This season Lindor has a .377 wOBA against southpaws and the matchup will keep his ownership under 5 percent, even in GPPs.

Third Base

Wilmer Flores, NYM vs CHC ($2,700): Many will pass on Flores when they look on paper and see he's up against a good pitcher in Jon Lester. However, Flores' numbers against left-handed pitching are too overwhelming to ignore. After sporting a .455 wOBA last season against lefties, he's continued his dominance with a .443 mark this season. Hopefully the matchup against Lester (.468 wOBA away vs. right-handed hitters this season) will keep his ownership down.

Outfield

Andrew Benintendi, BOS vs PHI ($2,800): This is way too good of a price for a guy hitting in the four or five spot for the Red Sox. He hit a home run last night and has produced at least 16.7 fantasy points in four of his last six games. Ben Lively for the Phillies is making his third career start on the road in Boston and is a good pitcher to target.

Austin Slater, SF vs KC ($2,800): Unless it's a lie there's no way Slater was on anyone's radar to start the season. A slew of injuries to the Giants' outfield has put Slater in play and he holds the "righty-vs-lefty" solid split tonight. It's tough to think Jason Vargas has suddenly become an elite pitcher, so some "bad" regression to the mean is in store for him. Slater has averaged 12.5 fantasy points per game in a small sample but has 9.0, 12.7, 27.9 and 35.2 fantasy points scored in four of his first seven big league games.

Adam Duvall, CIN at SD ($3,400): The game being in Petco should keep owners away but it's the matchup that they should be looking at. Duvall has killed lefties this season with a .475 wOBA and while Clayton Richard has been decent this season, he's someone to roster right-handed batters against. On the season he's given up a .368 wOBA to right handed hitters, making Duvall a great target.
