Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Sunday's 16-game slate features all 30 teams starting at 1:05 p.m. EDT and also contains a Giants-Nationals doubleheader. The players below are all positioned to perform well relative to their respective prices, making them the day's top value.

PITCHER

Vance Worley, MIA vs. COL ($27): Worley could be the answer for risky owners willing to separate themselves from the pack, as he's positioned to find success at a low price despite what seems like a tough matchup. He's 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over his past two starts and Colorado's lineup is far less imposing outside the team's hitter-friendly home park. The Rockies rank 28th with a .694 road OPS while Marlins Park is no Coors Field with a 25th-ranked 0.893 park factor.

Jeremy Hellickson, BAL at OAK ($33): Hellickson's been tremendous in two starts with the Orioles, averaging 24.2 fantasy points per game. Maintaining that success shouldn't be difficult against an Oakland team that's averaging just 4.35 runs per game and recently traded away one of its top producers in Yonder Alonso. Hellickson's ability to work deep into games gives him a high floor, making him a strong affordable complement to top-end starters like Chris Sale ($66), Corey Kluber ($65) or Max Scherzer ($64).

CATCHER

Martin Maldonado, LAA at SEA ($7): Maldonado makes sense for owners looking to save up for one of the three high-priced aces. The minimum-priced catcher has outperformed his valuation against left-handed pitchers like Ariel Miranda, posting a .037 higher wOBA than his .283 mark in lefty-on-lefty matchups. Miranda has allowed 26 earned runs in 32.2 innings for a 7.16 ERA over his past five starts, so he's a good choice to stack against with your picks.

FIRST BASE

Hanley Ramirez, BOS at NYY ($14): Ramirez is a dangerous option despite his affordability, especially given his .362 wOBA against southpaws. Between Yankee Stadium's fifth-ranked 1.13 park factor and fill-in starter Jordan Montgomery's 5.31 ERA over his past four major league outings, Ramirez will be operating in a hitter-friendly environment for this one.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA vs. LAA ($15): The left-handed hitting Cano has a solid .363 wOBA against righties, while Angels starter Parker Bridwell has allowed a .348 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Cano's well above the standard for such batters given his track record of success, yet he remains available for just $15 at the traditionally light-hitting position.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Sano, MIN at DET ($16): Sano's rightfully been priced above $16 for most of the season, so don't miss your chance to get him at that price. He's shelling lefties to the tune of a .414 wOBA, meaning his price could well go back up by the time he's done with Tigers starter Matt Boyd, who has allowed a .369 wOBA to right-handed hitters while compiling an unimpressive 5.64 ERA and 1.69 WHIP.

SHORTSTOP

Brandon Crawford, SF at WAS ($11): Crawford has hit 32 of his 42 home runs since the start of the 2015 campaign against righties, and the affordable shortstop has strong power potential against Washington starter A.J. Cole. Cole has been horrendous against left-handed sluggers, surrendering a .498 wOBA and .333/.486/.471 line to the 35 hitters he's faced from that side. Just make sure you're using Crawford in the 7:05 p.m. nightcap.

OUTFIELD

Nick Williams, PHI vs. NYM ($17): Mets starter Chris Flexen has struggled on the road, allowing a 12.00 ERA over six innings in two career starts. Williams is primed to take advantage of his struggles, as the left-handed hitting slugger should build on his .353 wOBA against righties while batting in the heart of the lineup. Given Flexen's .472 wOBA allowed to left-handed hitters, Williams will likely have a field day, especially since Citizens Bank Park sports a seventh-ranked 1.09 park factor.

Michael Conforto, NYM at PHI ($23): Conforto has been tremendous against righties and Phillies starter Zach Eflin is well below average as far as right-handed pitchers go. Eflin has an uninspiring 5.67 ERA and 1.39 WHIP while Conforto owns a sparking .428 wOBA in this split. Citizens Bank Park's aforementioned hitter-friendly conditions and the excellent matchup make the dangerous slugger a strong play even at his $23 price.

Lorenzo Cain, KC at CWS ($18): Cain's .322 wOBA against lefties is nothing to write home about, but his two consecutive finishes over the .400 mark in that split coming into this season suggest he's one of the best hitters around when it comes to producing with southpaws on the mound. Chicago's Derek Holland has surrendered a .397 wOBA to right-handed hitters over a sizable 426 at-bat sample, so this is the perfect matchup for Cain to find his elite form from the past couple years.
