FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Garrett Richards, LAA at CWS ($8,200): Richards owns a 1.86 ERA and 27.8 percent strikeout rate over four September starts, and a 0.64 ERA on the road. The White Sox young bats are surging towards the finish, but collectively have a .328 wOBA and 24.0 strikeout rate this month, and carry a .308 wOBA and 23.7 percent strikeout rate over the year against righties.

Catcher

Tyler Flowers, ATL at NYM ($3,100): Flowers has a .365 wOBA and 125 wRC+ against righties to date, third among Braves' regulars. That should fair well against Mets' starter Robert Gsellman, who is allowing a .365 wOBA to same-handed bats at home. The concern here is that Flowers isn't in the lineup after starting two of the last three games, so be sure to confirm before first pitch.

First Base

Eric Hosmer, KAN vs. DET ($3,700): Hosmer hasn't gone deep since September 8, but he's hit safely in all but three games this month. He has a .385 wOBA and 141 wRC+ this month and a .448 wOBA and 183 wRC+ at home against righties this year. That suggests a safe floor with upside potential against the Tigers' Jordan Zimmerman, who has a 6.71 second-half ERA while allowing a .433 wOBA to lefties on the road.

Second Base

Brian Dozier, MIN vs. CLE ($4,300): The price is a bit steep, especially when considering the advanced stats say Dozier has only a .318 wOBA and 94 wRC+ on the road against righties. But he's in solid form, posting a .369 wOBA and 129 wRC+ over the last two weeks against same-handed arms, and he owns a .375 average and 1.162 OPS in 32 career at bats against Indians' starter Danny Salazar.

Third Base

Jeimer Candelario, DET at KAN ($3,200): Candelario has been impressive in his brief MLB stint, and currently is sporting a .399 wOBA, 150 wRC+ and .919 OPS since September 2 against righties. And it's never a bad thing to have a bat or two in your lineup who are facing Royals' starter Jason Hammel and his 8.67 September ERA.

Shortstop

Amed Rosario, NYM vs. ATl ($2,800): Rosario has been much more useful against lefties, posting a .367 wOBA, 130 wRC+ and .876 OPS against them as opposed to a .277/71/.649 line against right-handers. The price is right here to roll the dice with Rosario against Sean Newcomb, who has a 4.02 September ERA

Outfield

Bryce Harper, WAS at PHI ($4,000):In just his second game back from injury, Harper's price remains as low as it possibly can, and his upside is hard to pass on. Prior to being sidelined, he owned a 182 wRC+, .455 wOBA and .369 ISO on the road against righties entering a matchup against Phils rookie Mark Leiter, Jr.

Ryan Braun, MIL vs. CIN ($3,900): Braun's .346 wOBA and 110 wRC+ at home against same-handed pitchers is modest at best, and he's shown better power on the road all season. But Reds' starter Homer Bailey has a 6.07 road ERA, where he's allowing righties to post a .392 wOBA and .905 OPS. Braun also is 16-of-44 (.364) with four homers, four doubles and a 1.144 OPS against Bailey.

Jose Bautista, TOR vs. BOS ($2,900):Bautista is showing his age in an underwhelming season, which includes a .309 wOBA and 90 wRC+ on the road against righties. Head to head stats aren't usually trustworthy, but I'm willing to buy into potential in tournament formats for a guy who is 17-of-48 (.354) with five homers and 1.154 against Red Sox starter Rick Porcello in what appears like a large enough sample size.
