Celtics Host Knicks Looking To Extend Winning Run
The Boston Celtics will host the New York Knicks at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.

The Celtics (8-3) finally resumed play after several postponements and delivered an excellent performance, as they cruised their way to a 124-97 win over the Orlando Magic on Friday. Aside from the stress that represents playing amid a COVID-19 outbreak, it's worth noting the Celtics looked impressive on both ends of the court despite being notoriously depleted. Jaylen Brown paced the Celtics with 21 points and eight assists, as he thrived in a playmaking role with Jayson Tatum sidelined. Jeff Teague started at point guard and delivered 17 points, while Marcus Smart ended with 14 points while draining four of his 10 shots from beyond the arc. Semi Ojeleye (18 points, six rebounds), Payton Pritchard (16 points, four rebounds, three assists) and Javonte Green (10 points) all posted solid games off the bench as well. The Celtics have now won five straight games and should only get better moving forward as they get stronger. They are 4-1 at home.

The Celtics are listing Romeo Langford (wrist), Jayson Tatum, Robert Williams and Carsen Edwards (all three due to COVID-19) as out, while several other players are game-time calls. That latter list includes Daniel Theis (finger), Tacko Fall (ankle) and star point guard Kemba Walker (knee), who might be in line to make his season debut here.

The Knicks (5-8) might sit three games below the .500 threshold and might be coming off a disappointing loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers the last time out, but there's no question they're playing harder under the tutelage of Tom Thibodeau as head coach. The Knicks are also coming off five straight losses and are desperate for a win to get things back on track. Julius Randle led the way for the Knicks in Friday's loss with 28 points, adding six rebounds and six assists. Immanuel Quickley furnished 23 points, five boards, four assists, one steal and one block. R.J. Barrett delivered 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Elfrid Payton posted nine points and three rebounds. The Knicks are 3-4 playing on the road this season.

The Knicks will list Mitchell Robinson (heel), Nerlens Noel (back) and Alec Burks (ankle) as game-time calls for Sunday's game. Frank Ntilikina (knee) will remain out.
