Staff Keeper League 3 FAAB Review – May 26th

This past week, plenty of moves were made in RotoWire’s Staff Keeper League 3 (SKL3) by contenders and rebuilders alike. Across the league, five trades were made prior to Friday morning’s FAAB deadline, and one even took place shortly after the FAAB results were announced. These deals don’t go into effect until today, but they did lay the groundwork for some teams’ FAAB strategy. Here are the results from this week’s bidding:

Preds Play for Lord Stanley for First Time — NHL Observations

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Peter Laviolette is just the fourth coach in history to take three different teams to the Stanley Cup Final. The Canes got rings; the Flyers did not. Will the Preds?
  • Colton Sissons? He was a scorer in junior, but his best NHL trait is his two-way determination. Monday, he became the first player to net a hattie in a Conference Final since Patrick Kane in 2013. Too bad the fans didn’t notice until the next TV timeout.

“Phaneufed” is Back: Monday’s NHL Playoff Observations

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin look like they hate each other by the way they jaw at each other on the bench. Did you see Chris Kunitz trying to stifle laughter between them? #priceless
  • Look out — Phaneufed is back as a verb. That Brian Rust hit was classic Dion. For your viewing pleasure — a top-10 compilation of guys who were Phaneufed.

NHL Playoff Observations: And then there were four

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • In baseball, Alexander Ovechkin would be a star with his .300 average. In hockey, that .300 is pathetic when you consider it’s his Game 7 winning percentage.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury is one strangely happy dude. He’s given love to his posts in previous games, but he got “shaft” to trend on Twitter after making a lucky save on Ovie. Turn up the volume and try not to laugh.
