Past Fantasy Outlooks
Kampf arrived in Toronto last season following four years in Chicago and immediately seized a role in the club's bottom-six. He didn't miss a single game over the course of both the regular season and playoffs, posting a career-best 11 goals, 26 points and 102 shots on goal. Kampf's 15:16 average time on ice was also a new high-water mark. There's nothing to get excited about here from a fantasy perspective, but Kampf should again help the Leafs win hockey games in 2022-23.
Kampf spent four years as an effective depth scorer for the Blackhawks, and his performance in Chicago earned him a two-year contract with the Maple Leafs this summer. The Czech winger has finished between 10 and 20 points while playing no more than 70 games in each of his first four NHL campaigns. He's not likely to stand out in any single category, but he's established a solid baseline in terms of what can be expected of him -- 15 points, 70 shots on goal and 40 hits while averaging roughly 14 minutes of ice time per game. He'll likely begin 2021-22 on the Leafs' fourth line, but he could ultimately become interchangeable with Wayne Simmonds in Toronto's bottom six.
Kampf has settled into a role as the Blackhawks' fourth-line center, and he had 16 points in 70 outings last season in that spot. There's little reason to think the Czech forward will do much better than 15 points in 2020-21, as he'll have a limited role on a team that will likely struggle to put the puck in the net. As for non-scoring stats, Kampf isn't known to produce much in the way of hits or PIM, and he'll likely finish negative in plus-minus rating, so this is a player that most fantasy managers can live without.
Kampf was a regular in Chicago's bottom six last season, notching four goals and 15 assists in 63 games, but his value to the team is primarily as a penalty killer rather than a point producer, so there's no reason to believe that he'll suddenly breakout offensively in his third year with the Blackhawks in 2019-20. The 24-year-old forward can safely be disregarded in all fantasy formats.
Kampf got his first taste of NHL action in 2017-18, notching four goals and 11 points in 46 games with Chicago. The 23-year-old forward also spent some time in the minors, but he wasn't much more productive at the lower level, totaling seven goals and 18 points in 33 contests. Kampf will likely be a regular in the Blackhawks lineup this season, but he'll be skating in a bottom-six role, and he doesn't have much offensive upside to begin with, which means he won't be worth owning in the vast majority of fantasy formats.
