FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Picks

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

After a holiday that saw several games played in the afternoon, the NHL is back to a more traditional schedule Tuesday. It's also busy with nine games on the docket, which makes for plenty of fantasy options to choose from. Here are a few for your consideration…

GOALIE

Corey Crawford, CHI at COL ($9,000): The Blackhawks may be 5-5-0 in their last 10 games, but that's still significantly better than the Avalanche, who are 2-8-0. Colorado can't even claim to be decent at home, as they are 5-15-1 in their own arena. The Avalanche are also dead last in goals per game, so this shouldn't be a terribly tough outing for Crawford.

CENTER

Derek Stepan, NYR vs. DAL ($6,600): Dallas is allowing 3.05 goals per game, and they were in action Monday, giving up four goals to Buffalo. Stepan and the Rangers get to take advantage of a Stars team stuck playing on back-to-back nights. He's taken 104 shots in 44 games, and has nine power-play points. The Stars are 29th in penalty-kill percentage, so that provides Stepan with a real opportunity to produce.

Kyle Turris, OTT at STL ($5,700): The Blues are giving up 2.91 goals per contest, thanks largely to the fact their goaltenders have a collective .895 save percentage. That bodes well for Turris, who has five points in his last five games, and nine in his last. Despite being 21st in goals allowed, the Blues rank fifth on the penalty kill, so Turris may not find luck there. However, given St. Louis' overall level of play, he may not need power-play success. Plus, given his very reasonable price point, he doesn't have to have a great game to be a good value.

WING

Corey Perry, ANA vs. TAM ($6,700): Tampa will be playing on back-to-back days, which could mean Andrei Vasilevskiy is in net for the Lightning. That would be the same Vasilevskiy who has a 3.61 GAA and a .882 save percentage in his last 10 games. Perry's had bad luck this season (6.3 shooting percentage), but he's still taken 126 shots on goal in 46 games and has still managed to notch 15 power-play points. The Lightning rank 20th on the penalty kill, so Perry should be able to take advantage of that.

Mitch Marner, TOR vs. BUF ($6,500): The Sabres are yet another team playing on back-to-back days, and Buffalo gives up an average of 33 shots on goal per contest. Marner is averaging 13 fantasy points, owing to the 35 points he's tallied in 41 games. The rookie also has eight points in his last five games, so he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Charlie Coyle, MIN vs. NJD ($6,000): While Coyle's shooting numbers have dropped a bit recently, he's still notched 11 points in his last 10 games, thanks largely to nine assists in that time. The Devils are giving up 2.82 goals and 31.2 shots per game, and their goalies have a collective .909 save percentage. Coyle is playing on the top line of a team scoring 3.26 goals per game, so there's no reason to think he can't keep racking up the assists. He also has 13 goals for good measure.

Viktor Arvidsson, NAS at VAN ($5,300): Arvidsson doesn't have a point since returning from a two-game absence, but has registered 10 shots during that three-game span, giving him 130 in 41 contests this season. The Canucks are giving up 30.6 shots on goal per game, so Arvidsson should be able to continue his prolific shooting and perhaps get on the scoresheet.

DEFENSEMEN

Brent Seabrook, CHI at COL ($5,400): The paltry offensive output for the Avalanche was mentioned previously, and their defense is just as bad. Colorado gives up a league-worst 3.32 goals per game, and their penalty kill ranks 23rd in the NHL. It's been a while since Seabrook has registered a point, but he does have 10 power-play points and averages 3:13 per game with the extra man.

Jake Gardiner, TOR vs. BUF ($4,800): The Sabres rank dead-last in the league in penalty-kill percentage, making them a great matchup for anybody with some power-play acumen. Gardiner averages 2:40 per game with the extra man and has notched eight power-play points this year. It's been a few games since he's gotten a point while up a man, but nonetheless has four points over his last six contests.
