The jack man for Jeremy Mayfield's team was sent to a local hospital after being injured while working in the pits for Shelmerdine's car during Thursday's first 150-mile qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway, NASCAR.com reports.

Shelmerdine has reached an agreement with his partners, including Wabash Motorsports as well as other stakeholders including TRD, to field a full-time team in Sprint Cup racing in 2009, Kirk Shelmerdine Racing PR reports.

Jay Robinson Racing announced that Shelmerdine will be driving the No. 28 Chevy for the Nationwide Series Camping World 300 race at Daytona, Jay Robinson Racing PR reports.

Shelmerdine will be testing the No. 33 RCR Chevy at the Daytona International Speedway Monday, January 7th and Tuesday, January 8th 2008 in preparation for the 2008 Daytona 500 on February 17, 2008, Wabash Motorsports PR reports.

After an impressive 20th place finish in the 2006 Daytona 500, Shelmerdine plans to compete in Talladega's upcoming race on April 30, 2006, the Aaron's 499. Shelmerdine retreated from the spotlight after Daytona to work on the No. 27 and scout potential sponsors, kirkshelmerdine.com reports.
