Eric McClure: JGL and TMI Team Merger
XFINITY Series
January 5, 2015
Team McClure Inc. & JGL Racing announced a partnership that will place McClure in a JGL Toyota Camry for the full 2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Team McClure Inc. PR reports.
ANALYSIS
This merger will put the veteran driver in the seat of the No. 24 Toyota Camry for the 2015 season. Reynolds Wrap and Hefty brands will continue their long relationship as sponsors for McClure as he enters his 13th season of competition in the Xfinity Series. He will team with veteran crew chief, Jay Guy, in what will be one of his most anticipated campaigns in quite some time.

2008
McClure is a free agent driver in 2018.
The team’s plans have not been announced as of mid-January, but it’s expected that McClure will return to Tri Star with his long-time primary sponsor, Hefty/Reynolds Wrap. The 36-year-old driver is nearing the 300-start mark in the Xfinity Series, but to little acclaim or success. McClure started all 33 events last season for this team but only managed 10 Top-25 finishes and a lowly 26.9 average finish for the season. Another year of ups-and-downs lay ahead, but with Hefty/Reynolds Wrap paying the bills, McClure will continue racing at this level of NASCAR until the money dries up. - Update - McClure will race at Daytona for JD Motorsports, but the rest of his season has not been announced. Likely sharing the No. 0 Chevrolet of JDM.
McClure had a tough 2012 campaign that included a big crash and concussion at Talladega during the spring. The injuries sustained in that crash sidelined him for five races. Despite missing those events, McClure still finished a respectable 16th in the final championship standings. This was thanks mostly to his seven Top-25 finishes in the final 10 races of last year. That push allowed him to climb a couple spots in the standings over the last two months of 2012. The No. 14 Toyota team will field McClure again this season and hope for some better luck. The veteran driver will make his 200th series start at Daytona in February, so good things should be in store.
