Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
You don't see this often: a 9.82 ERA with a 4.76 FIP. A 43.1 LOB% will do that to a man. Coonrod added a tick of velocity and was pumping 98 mph on average with his fastballs in 2020, but even so his strikeout rate remained modest at 21.1%. Even worse, Coonrod hit the injured list with a lat strain early on and his season was bookended by a shoulder strain. His sinker was knocked around pretty good and had a whiff rate of just 15%, but the changeup and slider have shown flashes, so some sort of pitch-mix tweak could help Coonrod establish himself at the major-league level. He was traded to the Phillies in January of 2021 and could climb the ladder quickly if the arm trouble is behind him.
