The 38-year-old righty has pitched only 16 innings since 2004 due to elbow problems. He signed a minor league contract in December and will have a shot to win a middle relief job in spring training.
Fox was shut down last season with an ulnar nerve problem, and his major league future is in serious doubt.
Fox broke down for the umpteenth time in his career, giving the Marlins all of 10 2/3 innings before hitting the DL. He might be worth a $1 bid if you're feeling lucky and/or desperate.
Fox was lights out after joining the Marlins, striking out better than a batter an inning and allowing a .190 opponent's batting average while in teal. He could fit somewhere in their closer mix, but expect him to have lots of help -- his always-shaky health makes him a very slender reed on which to build a whole bullpen.

Fox had X-rays taken Monday of his right elbow and said the good news is that there was no major fracture, the Cubs' web site reports. "We thought we were going to see a train wreck when we got in there," he said.
