Knudson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk a 4-0 victory for Triple-A Indianapolis over Columbus on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Knudson was roughed up this spring, giving up 15 hits, a walk, and five earned runs over 8.1 innings. However, his minor league stats paint a different picture as during his six seasons in the farm systems, the righty holds a 3.11 ERA through 246.1 innings. In his most recent stint with Triple-A Toledo, the now 26-year-old produced a 2.34 ERA along with 44 strikeouts over 42.1 innings. If Knudson can produce another season with a low ERA and high strikeout totals, he could get called up by the Pirates at some point in 2016.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Knudson rose quickly from Double-A to Triple-A last season and earned a callup to the Tigers in late August, but his dream quickly deteriorated into a nightmare in Detroit. He was absolutely hammered in his first taste of the big leagues. In five innings (four outings), Knudson gave up five home runs and 10 runs. His last outing left him shellshocked -- he gave up two homers and four runs in just one-third of an inning -- and that put him back on a bus to Triple-A Toledo. Knudson's performance left such a sour taste for the Tigers' braintrust that they didn't even call him up when rosters expanded in September. And they put him on waivers in November. The Pirates snapped Knudson up, ostensibly because of that 2.56 ERA in 40 games between Double-A and Triple-A. He'll get a shot at long relief, but he's unlikely to see high-leverage situations.
