Lands invite to MLB spring training
SSBoston Red Sox  A+
January 10, 2019
Chatham received an invite to major-league spring training Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The shortstop prospect put together a solid hitting display in the low minors last season, finishing the year with a .314/.350/.389 with three home runs, 52 RBI and 11 stolen bases between Low-A Greenville and High-A Salem. He also made contact over 80 percent of the time, but he benefitted from a BABIP in the .370's. Although he's already 24 years old, Chatham still has a bit of development to do in the minors before having a real chance to emerge at the major-league level.

Farm Futures: AL East: 128 Prospects You Need To Know
25 days ago
James Anderson kicks off his tour of fantasy-relevant prospects around MLB with the AL East, and says you should believe the hype on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
2017 Fantasy Outlook
Chatham was selected in the second round of the 2016 draft out of Florida Atlantic University. Considered one of the top shortstops in the draft, Chatham was viewed as a right-handed pitching prospect in high school. He was determined to change that perception, but it wasn't until his junior season that he blossomed in the eyes of evaluators. A free swinger as a freshman and sophomore, Chatham dedicated himself to better plate discipline as a junior. With an emphasis on selectivity, Chatham increased his walk rate to 8.2 percent while posting career highs in average, on-base percentage and slugging, and moving up to third in the order. Just like that, Chatham became a hot prospect. At 6-foot-4, he's large for a shortstop, but the Red Sox think he can stick there. They also feel he'll make a two-way impact, hitting for average and power. He'll likely start at Low-Greenville in 2017.
