Rest-of-Season Projections
Head was signed by the Rockies Monday, insidetherockies.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head is making the unusual transition from first baseman/outfielder to pitcher. He will spend time in extended spring training in an attempt to increase his velocity, but does not offer much in the way of fantasy value at this point.

Twenty three-year olds from established college programs (Mississippi) aren't supposed to take three seasons to escape High-A ball, but that's where Head finds himself. He followed up a disappointing 2006 season with only a slight improvement, hitting just .251/.336/.426 in his third season at High-A Kinston. He has shown a good eye at the plate, while he still needs to show more power as he moves up the chain. Being in the same organization as Beau Mills certainly won't help his cause either. He's got the frame (6-3, 220) for a power spike, but sometimes that's not enough in itself for the development to take place.
