Rest-of-Season Projections
Mientkiewicz has decided to retire, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
He ended his stint with Triple-A New Orleans after just four games. He's just 35 years old, so there's a chance he could change his mind later this summer or next spring.

Mientkiewicz made the best of a non-roster situation in spring training and not only made the team, but also served as its occasional third baseman and pinch-hitter extraordinaire. Teaching an old dog new tricks wasn't too difficult, as Mientkiewicz's first hot-corner experiment in 11 big league seasons went reasonably well. He also batted .326 (14-for-43) as a pinch-hitter and combined for a .350 batting average (36-for-103) in June and July. Still, he doesn't play nearly enough to be a fantasy factor as anything more than a short-term injury replacement.
