LaRocca has been playing in Japan ever since the Cleveland organization cut him loose at the end of the 2003 season, hitting .286 with 27 home runs for the Orix Buffaloes last year. However, this season, he was hitting just .169 with one homer in 26 games before he went on the DL, and since he's on the last year of his contract, Orix may release LaRocca in order to add another player to their roster. LaRocca traveled back home to the US in order to have surgery on Wednesday.
