FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Wei-Yin Chen, MIA at ATL ($8,600): Chen has racked up a solid 45:12 K:BB through 54.2 innings as a Marlin, and that ratio is likely to get even better against a Braves team that scores the fewest runs per game of any team in baseball at just 3.11. The Taiwanese southpaw allowed just five baserunners over 6.1 innings while striking out six in a no-decision against Atlanta last time he saw them, but he's likelier to emerge victorious this time around with the Marlins starting to click following a slow start.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC vs. CWS ($3,400): Perez is riding a 12-game hitting streak and is in excellent position to extend that mark against White Sox starter Carlos Rodon. Rodon's .351 wOBA allowed to right-handed hitters isn't very impressive, so the streaking catcher should be able to exploit him. Recent history suggests Perez will once again outperform his reasonable price.

FIRST BASE

John Jaso, PIT at TEX ($3,400): Jaso has found tremendous success against Rangers starter Yu Darvish in the past, and the odds are in his favor to continue that trend with the Japanese pitcher making his first start since 2014. The first baseman is 9-for-22 with a 1.231 OPS against Darvish in his career, but those numbers shouldn't come as a major surprise given his solid .354 career wOBA against right-handed pitching. Don't be surprised if the discount first baseman once again outperforms his price tag out of the leadoff spot for the Pirates following back-to-back days off.

SECOND BASE

Ben Zobrist, CHC vs. PHI ($4,300): The switch-hitting Zobrist has found success from both sides of the plate this season, making him a valuable commodity in most situations. He has an especially good opportunity to be productive from the left side against Phillies starter Jerad Eickhoff, though, as the second-year pitcher has struggled against left-handed hitters throughout his short career. Don't be surprised if the red-hot veteran extends his hitting streak to 14 and scores a run for the fifth straight game.

THIRD BASE

Alex Rodriguez, NYY at TAM ($3,200): Even in what has been a dismal season thus far, A-Rod is pummeling left-handed pitching with a .391 wOBA. His full body of work in 2016 isn't indicative of the veteran's success against southpaws, and Rays starter Matt Moore is a prime target after allowing a .375 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season. Rodriguez is well worth a look in this matchup, especially after homering Friday.

SHORTSTOP

Eduardo Nunez, MIN at SEA ($3,000): Minnesota's leadoff hitter makes for an appealing value play at just $3,000. Mariners starter Wade Miley doesn't scare anyone with his 4.50 ERA, and has naturally had trouble with right-handed bats such as Nunez. With decent power for a shortstop, plenty of at-bats to be had, and a speed element to his game, the former Yankee offers many potential ways to pick up fantasy points.

OUTFIELD

Michael Conforto, NYM vs. LOS ($3,600): Conforto should be fresh after a day off Friday and ready to punish Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda, just like he has been doing to right-handed pitching all season. The 10th overall pick from 2014 has a whopping .425 wOBA in that split in 2016, and Maeda is more vulnerable than most realize, having allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts.

Ichiro Suzuki, MIA at ATL ($2,300): Ichiro has 11 hits in six games since being promoted to the leadoff spot, and that success is unlikely to stop against winless Braves rookie Aaron Blair. To make matters worse for Blair, he's allowing an astronomical .432 wOBA to left-handed hitters like Suzuki. While he's unlikely to hit the ball out of the yard, the veteran's high likelihood of getting on base and scoring runs makes him very reliable for a bargain-bin option.

Colby Rasmus, HOU at LAA ($3,100): Houston's cleanup hitter will be licking his chops heading into this game with against struggling Angels right-hander Jered Weaver. Weaver is giving up a .390 wOBA to left-handed batters like Rasmus, and the outfielder is in perfect position to deliver a big performance against him in a premier run-producing spot. Plus, he can be had without breaking the bank.
