Jazz Defeat Pelicans, 129-118
The Utah Jazz defeated the visiting New Orleans Pelicans, 129-118, at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Thursday.

While New Orleans got out to a 43-31 lead after the first quarter, Utah won in dominating fashion. In fact, they took a halftime lead thanks to a 39-26 second quarter and then took control with a 30-23 third quarter. That allowed them to outscore New Orleans by 23 points over those final three quarters, holding a double-digit lead for the final eight minutes of play. Free-throw shooting was key, with the Jazz hitting 24-of-25 and the Pelicans connecting on just 23-of-30. In addition, Utah had eight blocks to New Orleans' two.

The Pelicans (5-9) were led by Zion Williamson, tallying 27 points, three rebounds and two assists on 9-of-14 from the field. Brandon Ingram had 20 points in the first half but finished with 23 points in an otherwise empty stat line. Lonzo Ball generated 14 points and five assists while Steven Adams totaled eight points, 16 rebounds and three assists. J.J. Redick and Nickiel Alexander-Walker led the bench with 11 points apiece.

The Jazz (11-4) were led by Donovan Mitchell and his 36 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 11-of-19 from the field, Mike Conley compiled 20 points, two rebounds, six assists and three steals. Bojan Bogdanovic amassed 16 points, three rebounds and two steals while Rudy Gobert had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Jordan Clarkson led the bench with 19 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Both teams will be off until Saturday, with Utah remaining home to play the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans staying on the road to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
