Past Fantasy Outlooks
2005

2003
Known as a defensive specialist around the league, Christie will battle Daniels for the starting shooting guard position. If he wins the spot, he can be counted on for threes, steals and good percentages, though his point output and his contributions in other categories won't amount to much at this stage of his career.
2003 was a tale of two halves for Christie. Before the All-Star break Christie averaged an unimpressive 8.7 points, 3.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.62 steals per game. After the All-Star break, however, Christie improved in every category, averaging 12.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.19 steals per game. While some of this upswing can be attributed to Bobby Jackson’s abdominal injury and Christie’s subsequent increase in minutes, Christie just flat out played better in the second half. Christie won’t match his post All-Star break stats in 2004, but he should average around 10 points, four rebounds, four to five assists, and two steals per game.
Christie does not score a lot for a shooting guard, but he makes up for it with his well-rounded game. Last season, Christie averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 boards, and 4.7 assists. He was also fourth in the league with 2.25 steals per game and shot 81 percent from the free throw line. While Christie is still a respectable fantasy player, he is entering the twilight of his career, and his points per game have decreased every year since the 1997-1998 season. Do not expect much more than 10 points, four boards, four assists, and a couple of steals per game from Christie this season.
