Austin Croshere

Croshere's role will see him fill in the spot formerly occupied by Keith Van Horn, and will be utilized for his three-point shooting and rebounding skill. Van Horn averaged nearly nine points and four rebounds per game, and a best-case scenario could see Croshere posting similar stats.

Croshere seems to have been on the outs with the Pacers for the last four years, but he keeps finding a way to get into the playing rotation for Rick Carlisle and the Pacers. He's never going to develop into a starting forward and fantasy regular that the Pacers once envisioned him becoming, but he'll have his spare moments in the sun.

Although he had his fleeting moments of glory, particularly in the playoffs, the promise of more playing time didn’t really come to fruition for Croshere last season. He averaged a mere 13.6 minutes of playing time per game, up less than a full minute per game. The trade of Al Harrington might create more opportunity for Croshere, especially if Jonathan Bender can’t stay healthy, but don’t count on too much from him.

Croshere's career might have received a chance at revival when the Pacers fired Isiah Thomas this summer. After showing tremendous growth under Larry Bird, Croshere regressed under Thomas, in part due to a foot injury that never went away, and in part due to Thomas losing confidence in him and burying him on the bench. Croshere probably won't match the production from the 2000-01 season, but he should get plenty more minutes this year and outproduce the last two seasons.
