$Signed a three-year, $20 million contract with the Magic in July of 2017. Traded to the 76ers in February of 2019. Traded to the Wizards in June of 2019. Waived by the Wizards in July of 2019.

The Wizards officially waived Simmons on Sunday.
The Wizards merely took on Simmons and the final year remaining on his three-year, $20 million contract in a June 20 trade with the 76ers to net the 42nd overall pick in the draft. The swingman was never considered long for the roster, and was promptly waived when the league's moratorium on free-agent signings ended. If the 29-year-old resurfaces in the NBA this season, he'll likely have to accept a deal with limited guaranteed money attached to it after he posted a career-worst 46.6 true shooting percentage in 2018-19 across 56 games with the Magic and 76ers.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
Simmons, who went undrafted out of Houston in 2012, wrapped up his first campaign outside of the Spurs’ organization last season. In joining Orlando, he saw his role expand from 17.8 minutes per game and eight starts to 29.4 minutes per game and 50 starts. As a result, he had a career year, averaging 13.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting a solid 46.5 percent from the field and making 1.0 three per tilt at 33.8 percent. Simmons was also able to put together 13 efforts of at least 20 points -- two of which were 30-point games. Improved playmaking ability was on display as well, with Simmons recording nine performances with between five and nine assists. Despite the breakout campaign, minutes may be harder to come by for Simmons this season. The Magic dealt with a myriad of injuries across all positions last season, allowing Simmons to see extra run. Still, Simmons’ versatility to play shooting guard, small forward and even some point guard should allow him to maintain a sixth-man role. That said, given his relatively low-volume role, he can probably be avoided in most standard Fantasy drafts.
Simmons, at 28-years-old, will be entering his third year in the NBA during the 2017-18 campaign. He spent the past two seasons with the Spurs, largely playing a reserve role to star wing Kawhi Leonard. Last year, he posted 6.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 17.8 minutes per game while shooting 42.0 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from long range. Simmons did draw eight starts, however, but posted a subpar 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 28.3 minutes per game while shooting 32.9 percent from the field. Despite joining a new team, he likely won’t see his role expand much considering the Magic have plenty of backcourt depth, including Evan Fournier, Arron Afflalo, Terrance Ross and Jonathan Issac. As a result, Simmons can likely be avoided in most Fantasy formats, as his past production mixed with his new situation don’t exactly look to have the makings of a breakout campaign.
