Tournament Preview

The European Tour heads to Austria this week for the Lyoness Open, and the tournament is once again being contested at Diamond CC. It is one of the more difficult courses on Tour, with water hazards lurking on nine of the eighteen holes and statistics proving the fairways are not easy to hit. Diamond Country Club, located in the stunning Austrian countryside, will demand accuracy both off the tee and approaching the greens. History has shown winners and runner-ups can come from all over the world.

Key Stats to Winning at Diamond CC

• Driving Accuracy
• Greens in Regulation

Past Champions

2016 - Ashun Wu
2015 - Chris Wood
2014 - Mikael Lundberg
2013 - Joost Luiten
2012 - Bernd Wiesberger

DRAFTKINGS PICKS

Gregory Bourdy - $9,800 (20/1)

Bourdy has great history at Diamond CC, finishing T6 both last year and in 2015. He was solo 8th in 2013. Gregory enters this week showing nice form after finishing T21 last week at Nordea Masters. He is 64th in driving accuracy and is hitting over 69 percent of greens in regulation. He is my favorite among the top tier of players.

James Morrison - $9,600 (28/1)

I have been on Morrison most of the season and don't see any reason to stop now. He missed his first cut this year at the BMW, but I fully expect a bounce back this week. Morrison is ranked 50th in driving accuracy and 74th in greens in regulation. It doesn't hurt that he finished fourth at Diamond CC last year.

Benjamin Hebert - $9,500 (28/1)

Another Frenchman to consider this week is Hebert, who comes in on the heels of a T8 last week at Nordea. He is having a solid year, posting a T13 at Volvo and a T19 at Trophee Hassan II, and has made five straight cuts. He also has the stats covered this week, ranking 10th in greens in regulation and 33rd in driving accuracy. Hebert has some history here, too: he finished T36 in 2015 and T6 in 2012.

Alexander Bjork - $6,800 (55/1)

Bjork is a riskier pick. He has been up-and-down this season, but it appears that a win is coming soon for this young, talented Swede. He missed the cut last week, and his pattern this year has been to follow a missed cut with a high finish the following week. He checks the boxes for needed stats, ranking 40th in greens in regulation and 69th in driving accuracy. He is also consistent with the putter.

Tom Lewis - $6,600 (50/1)

Tom has been steady since the end of February and recently has been making a push towards the top. He was T18 at Portugal Open and T11 at The Rocco Forte in Sicily. Lewis is ranked 98th in driving accuracy and 34th in greens in regulation, and he is also long off the tee, averaging over 304 yards. He has good course history, finishing T26 last year, T30 in 2013 and T10 in 2011. There is excellent value here if the chips fall into place.
