FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

It's too early in the year for snow, but, like it or not, a lot of us will be getting it this weekend. So why not take solace in Friday's six NHL games? If you want to play some daily fantasy hockey, here are my recommendations for your lineup.

GOALIE

Henrik Lundqvist, NYR at DET ($7,800): Lundqvist is enjoying a bit of a resurgence to start the season, as he has a 2.64 GAA and .922 save percentage. Sure, that may not continue, but the Red Wings have only averaged 2.60 goals and 28.1 shots on goal per game. The Rangers have won four in a row, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them make it five, even on the road.

CENTER

Ryan O'Reilly, STL vs. SAN ($6,600): O'Reilly seems to enjoy being a Blue. Over his last eight games he has a whopping 15 points. That includes six points on the power play. The Sharks are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and although Aaron Dell has been better than Martin Jones, he still has a 2.70 GAA and .913 save percentage.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLM at WAS ($5,700): Dubois scored 20 goals as a rookie, and now has six through 15 games this season. This has helped him average 12.3 fantasy points per game. The Capitals have gotten off to a slow start, as they have a 3.50 GAA and have given up 33.2 shots on goal per contest. Plus, let's not forget that Braden Holtby had a .907 save percentage last year.

WING

Rickard Rakell, ANA vs. MIN ($7,100): Rakell has 12 points through seven games, even though he only has three goals on 47 shots. His 6.4 shooting percentage is bound to improve, as he's notched more than 30 goals in each of his last two seasons. The Wild are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back, and they will be likely starting Alex Stalock, who has a 3.30 GAA and .895 save percentage.

T.J. Oshie, WAS vs. CLM ($6,300): Oshie has long been a power-play threat, as he's notched at least 13 points with the extra man in every season where he's played more than 50 games. He has three power-play points this season and has averaged 3:25 per game with the extra man. The Blue Jackets have the 24th-ranked penalty kill, and they have a 3.47 GAA as well.

Chris Kreider, NYR at DET ($6,100): Kreider had a tough season last year, as he only scored 16 goals in 58 games. However, just two seasons ago he had 28, and he already has seven goals in 15 contests this year. The Wings have given up 35.1 shots on goal per game, and, unsurprisingly, they have a 3.60 GAA, given that they don't have the goaltending to withstand that number of shots.

DEFENSE

Zach Werenski, CLM at WAS ($5,200): Werenski had 21 power-play points as a rookie and 10 last year, but his minutes with the extra man have gone up considerably. He's averaged 3:47 per game on the power play, notching five points in 15 games. The Capitals have the 25th-ranked penalty kill, lowest of any team in action Friday, which bodes well for the 21-year-old defenseman.

Neal Pionk, NYR at DET ($4,200): Pionk has a goal in each of his last two games, giving him eight points in 13 games. This includes five points on the power play, though neither of his goals came with the extra man. He's also blocking more shots this year, as he has 33 of those already. As previously noted, the Red Wings have a 3.60 GAA, fifth highest in the NHL.
