DraftKings NHL: Sunday Breakdown

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

The clocks lept forward this morning, and the games won't start until 1 p.m. EDT. However, we'll be focusing on the later slate starting at 5 p.m. EDT.

The Islanders vs. Devils is a rematch from last night; the Maple Leafs played Saturday as well. The Senators and the Kings are also on the first half of back-to-back games.

GOALIES

Alex Nedeljkovic, CAR at DET ($8,400): Nedeljkovic is on a three-game win streak, and he's posted a .926 save percentage through eight games this season. The Red Wings have shown some life of late, but they're still one of the best matchups a goaltender can ask for.

Ilya Sorokin, NYI at NJ ($8,100): Sorokin started to falter in Thursday's game against the Devils, but he pulled out the win nonetheless. The rookie is up to five straight wins while putting up a .934 save percentage and a 1.40 GAA. He's proving himself as a viable NHL netminder. The Devils are an easy opponent to target, as they rank 25th in the league with just 2.52 goals per contest.

Anton Khudobin, DAL at CLM ($7,800): Khudobin was pulled from his last start, but he'll be back at it Sunday afternoon. Overall, he's been fine this year with a .907 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA. The Blue Jackets don't have major firepower up front, and they rank 27th over the last month with 1.93 xGF/60.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Tim Stutzle, OTT vs. TOR ($4,400): Stuetzle has been easily the best of the 2020 Draft Class so far. His passing is crafty and crisp, and he maintains a strong wrister to keep goalies honest. The 19-year-old is capitalizing, too, ringing up six goals and 10 assists across 27 games. The Senators draw the Leafs, who gave up five goals last night.

Jason Dickinson, DAL at CLM ($3,000): Dickinson has moved up to the top six with Roope Hintz (lower body) out of the lineup, and he managed to dish out an assist Saturday. He holds a first-round pedigree and can drive the offense with the top dogs, and a matchup against Joonas Korpisalo's .895 save percentage is quite appealing.

Kieffer Bellows, NYI at NJ ($2,500): Bellows made his first appearance since Feb. 18 in Saturday's win over the Devils. He was thrust into a first-line role, and he capitalized on the opportunity, scoring twice in the third period. The 22-year-old will be in the same spot against the same team Sunday. There's no reason to back off now.

LINE STACKS

Maple Leafs at Senators

Auston Matthews (C - $9,300), Zach Hyman (W - $5,300), Mitch Marner (W - $8,200)

Matthews leads the league with 21 goals, and Marner is often in on the action with 26 assists through 28 games. This is a massive opportunity to pad their stats further, as the Senators just gave up 16 total goals over a three-game series against the Oilers.

Hurricanes at Red Wings

Sebastian Aho (C - $7,100), Martin Necas (W - $5,500), Nino Niederreiter (W - $5,800)

This line has played just one game together. They didn't score at even strength, but Necas managed to find twine on the power play. The combination of speed and skill here is lethal, too, and each player has produced at least 17 points thus far. They're getting an appealing opportunity Sunday, as the Red Wings rank 28th in the league over the last month with 2.48 xGA/60.

DEFENSEMEN

Dougie Hamilton, CAR at DET ($7,100): Hamilton's on a seven-game, nine-point streak, and he fired 20 shots on net and blocked 12 shots in that stretch. Six of his points came with the man advantage during that stretch, and he gets a chance to target Detroit's 29th-ranked PK (70.9 percent) on Sunday.

Ryan Pulock, NYI at NJ ($5,100): Pulock continues to eat up major minutes on the Islanders' top pairing, including the first power-play unit. He's dished out four assists over the last five games, and he quarterbacks PP1 as well. The Devils' PK (68.9 percent) is putrid, and it's likely that Scott Wedgewood -- an inconsistent option -- gets the starting nod.

Filip Hronek, DET vs. CAR ($3,900): It's not often that you can find a No. 1 defender at this salary range, but that's perk of being on the Red Wings. At least for us. Hronek has five assists across the last five games, and he's shooting plenty, too. The Hurricanes' PK (82.2 percent) is sturdy, but Hronek's ceiling is still high with PP1 duties in tow.

Jake Bean, CAR at DET ($3,700): Bean is intriguing for the same reasons as Hamilton, just at a far cheaper salary. He's even hot right now, too, posting nine points -- four on the power play -- over the past 13 contests.
