DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The main contests at Draft Kings feature Sunday's four evening games beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Here are a handful of recommendations to consider while assembling your lineups.

GOALIE

Joonas Korpisalo, CLM at OTT ($7,300): With both teams on the wrong end of back-to-back games and potentially using backup goalies, turning to the low-priced Korpisalo opens significant cap space to stack the rest of your lineup. The 22-year-old Finn owns a career .920 save percentage through 33 games, and Ottawa generates the seventh fewest scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league.

CENTER

John Tavares, NYI vs. PHI ($6,900): With eight goals and 20 shots through his past five games, Tavares is in the midst of his best offensive stretch of the season. Philadelphia allowed four goals to the Devils on Saturday, and while there could be a push back, New York averages 3.0 goals per home game with a respectable 13-8-4 record. Plus, as John Tavares goes, the Islanders go. This salary doesn't jive with an elite talent that averages north of 20 minutes per game, either.

Brayden Schenn, PHI at NYI ($6,300): Entering Philadelphia's five-day bye, Schenn posted six goals, nine points and 31 shots through 10 games. He was held off the scoresheet Saturday, but with the Islanders allowing the most scoring chances per 60 minutes (32.77) this season, the matchup checks out for Schenn. Additionally, he's locked into a role with the No. 1 power-play unit and centered Wayne Simmonds and Travis Konecny Saturday. It's an intriguing trio.

WING

Cam Atkinson, CLM at OTT ($7,200): It's been a bit of a yo-yo stretch offensively for Atkinson of late. He's missed the scoresheet in seven of his past 13 games but still has posted six goals, eight points and 37 shots, which highlights his high ceiling. Ottawa will likely be turning to backup Chris Driedger on second night of back-to-back games, which bodes well for Atkinson and the Columbus attack. Toronto took Mike Condon and the Senators to a shootout Saturday, so Driedger's alternative isn't a daunting test, either.

Artemi Panarin, CHI vs. VAN ($6,700): 14 games removed from a multi-point outing, Panarin is ripe for a big day offensively. After all, he's still posted nine points -- three goals -- while averaging 20:54 of ice time (3:11 with the man advantage) during that stretch. It's also worth noting the Canucks are 5-13-3 on the road and allow the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.61) away from Rogers Arena.

Nino Niederreiter, MIN vs. NAS ($5,000): The Predators are dealing with injuries throughout their lineup, which bodes well for Niederreiter and the rest of Minnesota's top line. The winger is also up to five goals, eight points and 20 shots over his past six games. The salary is easy to accommodate, too.

DEFENSE

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. VAN ($5,400): As noted, the Canucks have struggled significantly on the road, and Keith is a minute-eating defenseman (25:55 with 3:25 on the power play per game) that is in the midst of a four-game point drought. Additionally, his 1.50 points per 60 minutes pace all defensemen with at least 1,200 minutes this season.

Nick Leddy, NYI vs. PHI ($4,500): You know what you're getting with Leddy, as he's a solid offensive contributor that quarterbacks the No. 1 power-play unit for the Flyers. It makes him a nice stack option alongside John Tavares, and Leddy has been solid of late with two goals, seven points, 13 shots and nine blocked shots while averaging 23:18 of ice time per game (3:31 with the man advantage) through his past six outings.
