FantasyDraft NHL: Monday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

Combat the Monday blues with some daily fantasy hockey action. The NHL has six games on the docket, so you won't be left wanting for choices. Take a peek at some of the recommendations below…

GOALIE

Washington Capitals, WAS vs. ARI ($16,000):Braden Holtby is playing well again, as he has a .921 save percentage. The Capitals have allowed an unusually high number of shots, but that may not be a problem against the Coyotes. Arizona has only scored 2.53 goals per game this year, and the Coyotes have a team GAA of 4.13. That means it's a great bet that the Capitals will pick up a win for their netminder.

CENTER

Nicklas Backstrom, WAS vs. ARI ($14,500): Backstrom has been held without a point for a few games, but he still has 12 — seven on the power play — through 13 contests. Plus, it's not like Backstrom doesn't have a great track record. As previously noted, the Coyotes have a 4.13 team GAA, so this could easily be the game where Backstrom gets back to scoring.

Alexander Wennberg, CLM at NYR ($10,900): Wennberg has started 63 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second most on the Blue Jackets. He's also played 3:12 per game on the power play. While he only has one point with the extra man so far, he had 23 last year so we know he can contribute there. The Rangers have a team GAA of 3.40 and a team save percentage of .892, and Henrik Lundqvist doesn't appear to be the goalie he used to be.

WING

James van Riemsdyk, TOR vs. VGK ($11,400): Van Riemsdyk has started 59 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone (most among Toronto's forwards), and he's tallied five power-play points as well. Vegas is still without its top three goalies, and there isn't a fourth-string goalie in the world worth worrying about. Case in point: Max Lagace has a 4.43 GAA and .856 save percentage this season.

David Perron, VGK at TOR ($10,900): Perron is another veteran who has been revitalized by his move to Vegas. He's got 10 points and 31 shots through 13 games. Perron is also seeing a lot of power-play time, as he's averaged 3:27 per game with the extra man. The Maple Leafs have allowed 32.7 shots on average this year after allowing 32.6 last season.

Brock Boeser, VAN vs. DET ($9,400): The 20-year-old seems primed for a breakout season, as he has 13 points and 34 shots through 10 games. That includes five on the power play, and he's averaged 3:17 per game with the extra man. The Red Wings will be on the road on the second night of a back-to-back. Detroit is the only team facing that Monday, which is another point in Boeser's favor.

DEFENSEMEN

Seth Jones, CLM at NYR ($10,200): Jones may not be Zach Werenski, but don't overlook him. He has 11 points and 36 shots through 14 games. He also has six points in his last six contests. Henrik Lundqvist, meanwhile, has a 3.08 GAA and a .902 save percentage this year after having a 2.74 GAA and a .910 save percentage last season.

Morgan Rielly, TOR vs. VGK ($9,700): As previously mentioned, the Golden Knights are down their top three goalies, and beyond that they are an expansion team whose hot start is assuredly unsustainable (and the regression has already begun). Rielly has 11 points and 38 shots on goal through 15 games, a nice pace for the 23-year-old blueliner. He also has averaged 2:19 per game on the power play, a nice increase for Rielly that helps his power-play potential. Lundqvist has a 3.08 GAA and .902 save percentage after posting marks of 2.74 and .910 save last season.
