Heistand scored pole in GT Daytona in qualifying for Saturday's Chevrolet Sports Car Classic at Detroit's Belle Isle, with Mario Farnbacher claiming maximum qualifying points in the two-stage format, sportscar365.com reports.

It was a thinner than normal GTD field this weekend at Detroit. Still, Heistand had all the answers in the Friday qualifying session. He beat out the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus of Frankie Montecalvo to earn the pole. The CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Audi looked very strong in Heistand's hands. The team will challenge for the win Saturday at Belle Isle.

Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup driver Heistand has completed AIM Vasser Sullivan's full-season lineup for the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. Heistand, a Bronze-rated driver by the FIA, will join Jack Hawksworth in the team's No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 for the entire season, beginning with January's Rolex 24 at Daytona, sportscar365.com reports.
