FantasyDraft MLB: Sunday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHER

Danny Salazar, CLE at CHW ($21,900): If you believe that all things even out, then you might want to avoid Salazar as the White Sox have yet to score in this series. If you believe in stats, then you've got one of your starting pitchers. The White Sox are in the bottom five in the league in wOBA against righties and they are also bottom-five in K% against them. Salazar, like the two Cleveland pitchers before him in this series, is off to a good start this season and it's about to get better after a matchup with the White Sox.

Mike Leake, STL at MIL ($13,800): Now that the torrid run the Brewers were on is over, it's safe to target opposing pitchers once again. Leake is off to a great start this season, having surrendered just two runs in 21 innings. His 14 strikeouts is a little troublesome, but considering he's facing the team with the highest K% against righties, that shouldn't be much of an issue.

INFIELD

Anthony Rizzo, CHC vs. CIN ($10,800): The league's most reliable punching bag takes the hill for the Reds, and the Cubs will surely take advantage. Bronson Arroyo has yet to find his old form, and he's likely running out of time. He has been equally bad against righties and lefties, so the best plan of attack is to find the Cubs who are most proficient against righties. Rizzo is at the top of that list this season with a .354 wOBA against righties this season, a figure that is actually lower than the one he posted last season.

Mark Reynolds, COL vs. SF ($8,400): There's good Jeff Samardzija and bad Jeff Samardzija, and this season we've mainly witnessed the latter. Samardzija faced the Rockies last week at home and it didn't go well; now he has to face the Rockies in Colorado. I think we know how this will end. There are many Rockies to choose from, but Reynolds might have the most value, as he comes in with a .454 wOBA against righties this season.

Matt Carpenter, STL at MIL ($9,200): Carpenter was off to an extremely slow start this season, but he's turned things around over the past week and enters Sunday's game with a seven-game hitting streak. Jimmy Nelson takes the hill for the Brewers, and while he pitched well in his first two starts, he was pounded in his most recent one. Carpenter has 16 career at-bats against Nelson and he's managed eight hits, including two home runs.

OUTFIELD

Kyle Schwarber, CHC vs. CIN ($9,900): I mentioned earlier that Bronson Arroyo is on the mound for the Reds, and while the Cubs would make for a good stack, they are priced at a level where you'll probably have to pick just a few. Schwarber should be among them, as he sits right behind Rizzo in wOBA against righties on the team. He's also right at the top of a very productive lineup, which certainly helps.

Khris Davis, OAK vs. SEA ($7,800): Yovanni Gallardo takes the mound for the Mariners, and if this start goes like his first three, it's going to be gold for the Athletics' lineup. Through three starts, Gallardo has a 6.19 ERA while allowing 24 hits. He has been worse against lefties this season, but last season he was equally charitable to both. Khris Davis is the best hitter in Oakland's lineup and he's the best against righties this season with a .444 wOBA.

Christian Yelich, MIA at SD ($8,400):Luis Perdomo is back for the Padres, and unless he found some magic in his time off, he's going to remain a guy to target. The most concerning thing about Perdomo is his HR% against lefties, as he allowed 2.03 per nine innings to them last year. While most of the power in the Marlins' lineup comes from the right side, Yelich is one source of power from the left, as evidence by his .355 wOBA against right-handed pitchers last year.

UTLIITY

Trevor Plouffe, OAK vs. SEA ($6,800): The A's and Cubs are both great stacks, but unlike the Cubs, the A's are priced at a point where you could stack them. Plouffe fits nicely into that stack because he's swinging the bat well lately and his price is low enough. He has four home runs in the past eight games and he's been hitting righties well all season, posting a .391 wOBA against them

Corey Seager, LAD at AZ ($8,800): Seager's fantasy success has been a bit sporadic this season, but his most recent game against the Diamondbacks, when he knocked out three hits, including a home run, has me thinking he's ready to break out. Seager faces Shelby Miller, who has been surprisingly decent this season, but he's back home in a hitters' ballpark, facing one of the best right-handed hitting lineups in baseball. Seager is a big reason the Dodgers are so tough on righties, as his .465 wOBA against them this season is 12th-best in the league.
