Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

The NBA has 10 games on tap Friday and there are plenty of solid matchups to garner fantasy points.

GUARDS

Tim Frazier, NO vs. LAL ($11): Frazier was competing with J.J. Barea ($13) for this spot. Both have been playing outstanding of late but both also have question marks, as Frazier is coming off an ankle injury and Deron Williams is still listed as questionable for Friday. Ultimately, Frazier gets the slot for being a bit cheaper, for being probable to play and for having an excellent matchup against a beatable Lakers defense.

Jordan Clarkson, LAL at NO ($17): Clarkson earns this slot because he has a reasonable chance to surpass 30 fantasy points at a low price, and he has a good matchup against a weak and injury-decimated Pelicans defense.

Guards to Avoid

Kyle Lowry, TOR vs IND ($36): Lowry has had long stretches this season as one of the best fantasy guards, but he has been battling an injury of late. He has only reached his season-average of 40.3 fantasy points once in his last eight games, and in three of those he never even made it out of the 20s.

Victor Oladipo, ORL vs MIA ($32): Oladipo has been playing well of late, but he is the highest priced shooting guard and he has a tough matchup against the Heat, who allow the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to shooting guards.

FORWARDS

Luke Babbitt, NO vs LAL ($12): Babbitt has averaged 34 fantasy points per game over his last four, and he has a good matchup against a weak Lakers defense.

Carl Landry, PHI vs NY ($12): Landry has slotted in as the starting power forward in Philadelphia due to all of their injuries, and he has taken advantage, averaging 19.0 points, 7.7 boards and 2.3 assists per game in his last three. The return of Nerlens Noel shouldn't hurt too much, as Noel will play center and likely push Elton Brand back to the bench.

Forwards to Avoid

Will Barton, DEN vs SA ($21): Barton has not played well this week, averaging only 16 fantasy points per game in his last three outings. On Friday, he faces a Spurs defense that allows the fewest fantasy points per game to small forwards.

LaMarcus Aldridge, SA at DEN ($34): Aldridge has often been a good producer in recent weeks, and the Nuggets are certainly beatable up front. But with the Spurs locked into their playoff seeding and coming off a tough loss to the Warriors on Thursday, it seems unlikely that Aldridge will get a full allotment of minutes in a meaningless game Friday.

CENTER

Hassan Whiteside, MIA at ORL ($37): Whiteside is the highest priced center on the board, but he's been playing well and the Heat still have something to play for in the playoff race.

Center to Avoid

Nerlens Noel, PHI vs NY ($25): Noel returned from a six-game absence Tuesday, but he had a minutes limit and only produced 11.2 fantasy points. There is optimism that his minutes limit could be lifted Friday, but he had only topped 30 fantasy points once in the six games leading up to his injury.
