DraftKings NBA: Thursday Cheat Sheet

DraftKings NBA: Thursday Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings NBA series.

Guards

C.J. McCollum, POR at ORL ($6,100): McCollum is coming off one of his worst performances of his career but now's the time to strike with his price sinking toward 6K. McCollum's price has dropped by $1,000 since the opening game of the season, as he's usually closer to an $8,000 player. Look for McCollum, who still holds a usage rate of 26.4 percent, to bounce back in a big way against a middle-of-the-road Magic defense that lacks backcourt talent.

Reggie Jackson, DET vs. CLE ($5,700): Jackson has quietly returned to his 2016 form, despite the fact that this price doesn't represent that fact. Not only is he averaging over 30 DraftKings points per game, but Jackson has at least 29 fantasy points in every game this year. That's a 5X floor, which is an incredible value from a starting point guard who's playing 34 minutes per game. Cleveland might be the best fantasy matchup in the league right now, though it's gotten to the point that the possibility of a blowout could limit some of the Pistons' upside.

Ish Smith, DET vs. CLE ($4,400): Many DFS players get scared to take a backup point guard but it's impossible to fade Smith right now at this price. He's played at least 28 minutes in all three games this year and is averaging over 29 fantasy points per game in his last two outings. Dwane Casey's willingness to pair Smith with Reggie Jackson has been huge for Smith's value, and, as noted above, the Cavaliers are a highly appealing matchup.

Forwards

Kevin Love, CLE at DET ($8,500): While Cleveland has turned into a downright disaster, Love is on pace to have his biggest statistical season since his Minnesota days. As expected, Love currently leads the Cavaliers starters in usage rate while taking over 16 shots per game. His fantasy production has backed up that monster role, with Love averaging 43.4 fantasy points per game. Efficiency has been a major concern, but that's far less of an obstacle in daily contests, compared to season-long.

Paul Millsap, DEN at LAL ($5,800): Millsap has yet to post a monster line, but he's too good of a fantasy option to be priced south of $6,000. In a down year thus far, Millsap is still averaging 30 fantasy points per game, which is north of 5X value at this diminished price tag. It's this matchup that could really get him going, though, as he faces a Lakers defense that sits 24th in defensive efficiency and dead last in points allowed.

Evan Fournier, ORL vs. POR ($5,600): Fournier has been spectacular in his last two games, as he's averaging 42 DraftKings points over that span. He's been a focal point of the offense, averaging 16.5 shots per game while posting a team-high 25 percent usage rate. It's still early, but Portland is the first-week leader in fantasy points allowed to the small forward position.

Centers

Nikola Vucevic, ORL vs. POR ($7,800): Vucevic has been one of the best centers in the league early on, putting up 46 fantasy points per game and averaging nearly 60 DraftKings points over his last two outings. Vucevic is way underpriced at $7,800, and the presence of rookie Mo Bamba is yet to threaten his workload or starting spot.

Tristan Thompson, CLE at DET ($4,800): This recommendation may have DFS players running for the hills but Thompson is managing 25 fantasy points per game while playing nearly 30 minutes per night for the worst team in the East. Larry Nance is the far superior long-term asset, but the Cavs look to be committed to playing their veterans -- at least for now -- and Thompson will likely need to log big minutes again Thursday opposite Andre Drummond.
