FanDuel NBA: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Three-game slates can be difficult to navigate, as there can be certain positions that are stacked, while others have few options that seem desirable. That's the case Tuesday, as shooting guard seems to offer plenty of opportunities for value, while small forward appears to be thin outside of Kevin Durant.

Point Guard
Kemba Walker ($9,000), CHA at CLE
With Stephen Curry (groin) out, Walker is the highest-priced point guard on Tuesday's three-game slate. Despite that, he still has plenty of room to exceed value. Walker has five games with at least 50 fantasy points this season, plus one outing of 60.2 fantasy points against the 76ers. A blowout in favor of Charlotte is on the table, though hard to avoid with only three games on the ledger. Plus, Cleveland is prone to giving up fantasy points to point guards, allowing the 10th-most fantasy points to the position.

Shooting Guard
Jordan Clarkson ($5,700), CLE vs. CHA
There are a surprising amount of shooting guards in great positions to succeed. The three teams who allow the most fantasy points to shooting guards -- Atlanta, Golden State and Charlotte -- all play Tuesday. That makes Klay Thompson ($7,100) and Kent Bazemore ($6,900) options as well. But there's an argument to be made for Clarkson over Bazemore given their respective prices. Bazemore has been inconsistent this season. His fantasy points over the past five games are 46.1, 14.1, 29.9, 34.9 and 16.1 (28.2 average). Meanwhile, Clarkson's past five games have been 26.0, 33.8, 17.5, 25.0 and 24.8 (25.4 average). Considering there's more than a $1,000 price difference between the two, I'm inclined to lean more towards Clarkson.

Small Forward
Kevin Durant ($11,800), GS vs. ATL
Durant feels nearly unavoidable in this context. With Curry out over the past two games, Durant has averaged 61.9 fantasy points. Looking down the list of other available small forwards, each player has struggled reaching value on a regular basis and often have fluctuating workloads. Nicolas Batum ($5,900) feels like a nice pairing with Durant, but he's only reached 30 fantasy points four times this season. With FanDuel now dropping your roster's lowest score, it might make sense to punt your second small forward slot. If you choose to go that route, Juancho Hernangomez ($3,800) is averaging 17.5 fantasy points over his past six games and James Ennis ($3,500) has hit 20 fantasy points twice this season in nine appearances.

Power Forward
Paul Millsap ($6,200), DEN vs. HOU
Millsap has had his ups and downs this year, but is still posting 28.7 fantasy points per game. He's coming off his best game of the season, in which he dropped 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks (49.6 fantasy points) in 30 minutes against the Bucks. Denver's opponent Tuesday, the Rockets, allow the second-most fantasy points to power forwards. Expecting nearly 50 fantasy points out of Millsap again is unwise, but he's in a strong position to reach value.

Center
Tristan Thompson ($6,100), CLE vs. CHA
This may be the first time I've ever recommended Thompson in DFS, but the Cavaliers' myriad of frontcourt injuries has forced Thompson into a significant role as not only a rebounder, but a scorer. Over the past three games, Thompson is averaging 38.0 fantasy points on the back of 17.0 points, 14.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 33.0 minutes. He'll be in an advantageous matchup as well, with the Hornets allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to centers, including the fifth-most points and third-most rebounds.
