Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Bad weather and COVID-19 caused some reworking of the NBA schedule, but we still have 10 games ahead of us Wednesday. Let's get right down to business and highlight some players to consider for your Yahoo entries, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Delon Wright, DET at CHI ($24): With Derrick Rose gone and Killian Hayes (hip) still out, Wright doesn't really have anyone pushing him for playing time at point guard. He's logged at least 32 minutes in each of the last five games, which helped him to score at least 33.4 Yahoo points four times. Expect him to play a lot in this favorable matchup against a Bulls team that has played at the third-fastest pace in the league.

T.J. McConnell, IND at MIN ($17): McConnell made a rare appearance in the starting five Monday against the Bulls, scoring 39.3 Yahoo points across 42 minutes. He started in place of Doug McDermott (knee), who is listed as questionable for Wednesday. Even if McDermott plays and McConnell returns to the bench, he's still an appealing option against a Timberwolves team that has the eighth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Guard to Avoid

Derrick Rose, NY at ORL ($16): Despite being a big name, Rose is not a significant force in fantasy. Injuries have dramatically changed his career path and have contributed to him averaging just 23 minutes per contest this season. He hasn't logged more than 24 minutes in any of his four games since joining the Knicks, which led to him scoring 23.7 Yahoo points or fewer three times.

FORWARDS

Zion Williamson, NO vs. POR ($37): This is a mismatch of epic proportions. The Blazers have been decimated by injuries up front, leaving Enes Kanter as their only healthy center. They have been forced to deploy small lineups, using Carmelo Anthony and Robert Covington some at the five. Good luck putting those smaller players on Williamson, who has scored at least 45.1 Yahoo points in four of his last six games.

Jae'Sean Tate, HOU at PHI ($15): Speaking of teams dealing with injuries, the Rockets could be in trouble with Victor Oladipo (foot) and Eric Gordon (groin) listed as doubtful. They both sat out Monday against the Wizards, which helped Tate score 36.2 Yahoo points across 40 minutes. The Sixers are a much better defensive team than the Wizards, but a high minutes floor makes Tate a viable target at such a cheap salary.

Forward to Avoid

Brandon Clarke, MEM vs. OKC ($22): Clarke recently missed four straight games because of a calf injury. Since returning, he's logged 21 and 16 minutes, respectively, over two games. The Grizzlies will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set, so don't be surprised if Clarke plays limited minutes again. There's even a chance that he sits, altogether.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN at WAS ($55): The Nuggets are missing several key players because of injuries, which resulted in Jokic going off Tuesday against the Celtics. He attempted 23 shots across 38 minutes, posting 43 points, six rebounds and five assists in a loss. Although this is the second game of a back-to-back set, the prospects of a limited depth chart again, paired with a Wizards teams that has the sixth-worst defensive rating, makes it worth considering adding Jokic's hefty salary to your entry.

Nerlens Noel, NY at ORL ($14): Foul trouble plagued Noel versus the Hawks on Monday, which contributed to him posting just six points and four rebounds. However, he still scored 28.8 Yahoo points thanks for two steals and three blocks. With his ability to rack up defensive stats, he can provide value, even on nights when he's not contributing much in other areas.

Center to Avoid

Wendell Carter Jr., CHI vs. DET ($18): The Bulls received some unexpected good news when Carter was able to return early from his quadriceps injury and play Monday against the Pacers. Still, he had missed 10 straight games, so the Bulls were cautious with him, playing him only 21 minutes. Given his injury history, he could see limited time on the floor in this game, as well.
