FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Day 2 of the NBA playoffs is here with four matchups that offer plenty of opportunities for fantasy production. Here are some solid values to help toward a winning lineup.

Point Guards
Marcus Smart ($4300)
Smart has played better of late and a few disappointing starts over the last few weeks has helped keep his price depressed. He has fantasy games of 28.8, 24.5, 18 and 26.1 over his last four, and just scored 19 against the Cavaliers last week. One of the keys to his fantasy success is his thievery on defense, giving you a critical two points every time he comes up with a steal. The ceiling is limited, but at this price he shouldn't have trouble making his value.

Tony Parker ($5,200)
The good thing about the playoffs is that there isn't the chance to get thrown a last minute curve from Gregg Popovich as far as resting players or limiting their minutes. Parker is one of the cheapest starting point guards and should be in line for over 30 minutes of playing time. To make value he only needs to get around 25 fantasy points and he's gone over 30 in two of his last four games. He's still an integral part of the defending champs' offense and will have the ball in his hands a lot. There's a very high, safe floor here but don't be surprised if his ownership is extremely high as well.

Shooting Guards
Kyle Korver ($4,900)
The Hawks either rested their starters or often limited their minutes over the final few weeks of the season, which makes it hard to analyze how Korver has been playing lately. However, he'll get a full complement of minutes Sunday and should be launching his usual dose of three-pointers. Korver is always good to kick in a few rebounds and assists and shouldn't have trouble surpassing 20 fantasy points. It doesn't hurt that he's had over 27 fantasy points in three of his last four games and should have plenty of energy after seeing a reduced workload down the stretch.

J.R. Smith ($5,300)
Smith is another player who's been rested, which has helped to keep his price depressed. He's looked like a different player since moving from New York to Cleveland, and he claims the change to a quieter city has helped his game. He's one of the more streakier shooters and he should log around 40 minutes of playing time provided they don't blow out the Celtics. The options at shooting guard are limited Sunday, with no player costing more than $6,900, making Smith a safe option considering the price.

Small Forwards
Jeff Green ($5,000)
First, make sure to check that Green is going to play given that he's dealing with a back issue. To be honest, paying up at this position for LeBron James ($10,800) and Kawhi Leonard ($8,400) would make a lot of sense. If you're looking for a cheaper option, Green is your man. He's been playing heavy minutes and gets to face a Portland team that isn't completely healthy. Green has scored at least 20 fantasy points in four of his last five and has consistently been playing over 30 minutes every game.

Bojan Bogdanovic ($3,900)
The Nets have been going with the hot hand between Bogdanovic and Markel Brown lately, and it's been the former who has been winning the battle. Bogdanovic was instrumental in the Nets making the playoffs, scoring 28 points against Orlando to get them in. He's mainly a scorer and has double-digits in six of his last seven games. Being on the floor for over 30 minutes per game guarantees he gets a few rebounds and assists, and for the price he won't have to do much to make his value.

Power Forwards
Kevin Love ($7,100)
Usually a player with this price tag doesn't get mentioned in this column. This is an exception though, considering Love is a player who carried a price tag north of $8,000 this season. He's been limited lately with a back issue but should be almost 100 percent and log regular starters' minutes. The matchup against the Celtics is ideal, as they play an up-tempo style of basketball and have struggled all season to contain opposing big men.

Thaddeus Young ($5,800)
Young's production has been all over the place lately, as he has two games of 16.8 fantasy points but four games of at least 33 over his last eight contests. The matchup against Paul Millsap isn't ideal, but he may be limited due to a sore shoulder. Provided he doesn't get into foul trouble, Young should get plenty of minutes and is always a threat to post a double-double.

Centers
Al Horford ($7,100)
I know, another high-priced player. It seems a little reckless to recommend any of the starters below $5,000: Timofey Mozgov, Tyler Zeller or Robin Lopez. All three of those players have at least two games below 15 fantasy points over their last five and if that happens it could be the end of your fantasy day. Horford is the cheapest elite option on the board Sunday, yet he's been one of the most consistent fantasy contributors over the last couple of weeks. He's scored at least 30 fantasy points in five of his last six games despite averaging only 27 minutes per game over that span. Horford should be in line for over 30 minutes against the Nets and the matchup against Brook Lopez isn't something to worry about.
