Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA has nine games on tap Friday, not quite a packed slate but almost two-thirds of the teams will be on display. Looking ahead, there is some good low-price quality available across the board, at pretty much every position.

GUARDS

Archie Goodwin, PHO at NYK ($14): Goodwin has started the last four games in place of the injured Brandon Knight and has averaged 20.5 points, 4.3 assists, 3.0 boards, 1.8 steals and even 0.8 blocks in 34.8 minutes per game to far out-pace his price.

Avery Bradley, BOS vs. ORL ($24): Bradley has been playing very solid ball of late, averaging well over 30 fantasy points per game over his last six. He is coming off a big game in which he popped for 27 points, four steals, three boards and a blocked shot against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

Guards to Avoid

Reggie Jackson, DET vs. CLE ($32): Jackson is still the undisputed starting point guard in Detroit, but as Brandon Jennings has settled in as his backup, Jackson rarely plays more than 31 minutes, which limits his upside. Plus, on Friday he will be facing a Cavaliers defense that allows the third-fewest fantasy points to point guards.

Andrew Wiggins, MIN at UTA ($31): Wiggins has scored 59 points over his last three games, but he has not done much else, averaging 2.3 boards, 2.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game over that stretch. On Friday he will be facing a Jazz team with their intimidating defensive frontline of Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors, which will prevent him from being able to drive at will. If his jumper isn't working, it will be difficult for Wiggins to produce.

FORWARDS

Chandler Parsons, DAL vs. BKN ($25): Parsons has been on fire lately, averaging 25.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 37.8 minutes per game over his last five. He has become the Mavericks' leading scorer as his health has improved, and he enters Friday's game as an apparent impact performer.

Derrick Williams, NYK vs. PHO ($13): Williams has stepped up of late, playing well with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis both struggling through injuries. Williams had a clunker Thursday against the Raptors, but in the two games before that he averaged 41.5 fantasy points per game. Porzingis has been ruled out for Friday, while Anthony may or may not be able to return. Either way, if Williams plays to capacity, he should far outstrip his price tag against the Suns.

Forwards to Avoid

Marcus Morris, DET vs CLE ($23): Morris has only scored more than 10 points once in his last four games, including outputs of two and four points during the stretch. On top of his scoring inconsistency, Morris has a touch matchup Friday against a Cavaliers defense that is allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to small forwards this season.

Derrick Favors, UTA vs. MIN ($35): Favors returned from a long injury layout on Monday, but in two games this week he has only averaged 20.5 minutes. His coach has indicated that his time will steadily increase, but he is priced as a fully healthy impact player and right now it appears that he isn't yet physically ready to meet that price tag.

CENTER

Alex Len, PHO at NYK ($11): Len has struggled for much of this season, but injuries in the Suns' frontcourt have finally allowed him to start showing the form that caused the Suns to consider him their center of the future. Len has been starting at power forward, and in three games leading into Wednesday was averaging 15.0 points, 10.7 boards, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. Len had a clunker Wednesday, but he has a good opportunity to bounce back on Friday against a Knicks team that struggles against power forwards (28th in the NBA).

Center to Avoid

Brook Lopez, BKN at DAL ($35): Lopez is the second-highest priced center Friday but has to go up against a Mavericks defense that allows the fourth-fewest fantasy points to centers. There is optimism that Mavericks center Zaza Pachulia will return from injury, which would give the Mavs their best defensive front against Lopez.
