Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA has ten games on tap for Friday night, several of which shape up to be fantasy friendly. Sacramento at Indiana and Orlando at Boston look like potentially high-scoring affairs. The Cavaliers have a great matchup against the Nets, especially with all of the trouble they've had of late. The Heat and Bulls will be interesting because Dwyane Wade will be facing his former team in the midst of some public internal squabbles. The Trail Blazers in general have a tough matchup against the Grizzlies, but with Damian Lillard snubbed for the All-Star Game, there is always the chance that he explodes.

GUARDS

Kyrie Irving, CLE vs BKN ($39): Irving has averaged 31.0 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 treys, 2.0 steals, 2.0 boards and 0.8 blocks per game over his last four, and he'll now face a Nets defense that gives up the most fantasy points per game to point guards in the NBA.

Dion Waiters, MIA at CHI ($17): Waiters is in the midst of a monster week, averaging 30.0 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 boards and 4.3 treys per game over his last three. He now matches up against a Bulls team that has had some very public internal conflict this week, but has allowed shooting guards to average only 18.4 points, 5.2 boards and 4.6 assists per game on the season.

Guard to Avoid

DeMar DeRozan, TOR vs MIL ($42): DeRozan is questionable to play on Friday with a sprained ankle that has kept him out of the last two games, and his price is high enough that uncertainty about health makes him worth avoiding.

FORWARDS

Jae Crowder, BOS vs ORL ($19): Crowder is coming off his highest scoring game of the season, and he has averaged 19.3 points, 6.3 boards, 2.5 assists, 2.3 treys and 0.8 steals per game over his last four. Next up is a Magic defense that gives up the ninth-most fantasy points per game to small forwards.

Markieff Morris, WAS at ATL ($25): Morris is on an extended stretch of high quality play, averaging 17.6 points, 9.2 boards, 2.7 assists, 1.5 treys, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks per game over his last 10, and he'll now face a Hawks defense that has allowed 19.2 points, 10.6 boards and 3.1 assists per game to power forwards this season.

Forward to Avoid

Kristaps Porzingis, NY vs CHA ($31): Porzingis just hasn't been the same this month as he's dealt with a sore Achilles, scoring no more than 25.1 fantasy points in any game since Jan 7, solidly underperforming his price.

CENTERS

Marc Gasol, MEM at POR ($31): Gasol is coming off a career-high 42 points in his last outing, and he is averaging 30.8 points, 6.8 boards, 3.4 assists, 2.4 treys, 1.4 blocks and 0.8 steals per game over his last five. Friday's opponent is a Trail Blazers team that allows the 12th-most fantasy points per game to centers this season.

Greg Monroe, MIL at Tor ($17): Monroe has recovered from a three-game quiet spell with back-to-back strong efforts, averaging 22.5 points, 9.5 boards, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists in 28.5 minutes per game in those outings. Next up is a Raptors defense that has given up the 15th-most fantasy points per game to centers over the past 10 games.

Center to Avoid

Anthony Davis, NO vs SA ($53): Davis has either had to leave early or missed out completely in six of the last seven games due to various ailments. He entered Wednesday's game with a probable designation due to a thigh injury and started, but he then had to leave after only 16 minutes. He has an elite level price, and his recent injury history makes him very risky.
