FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

There are four games on the schedule on Sunday, and all are on the main FanDuel offerings. The most fun matchup of the day is the Pelicans against the Kings, pitting former superstar Kentucky Wildcat 1-and-done big men Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins against one another. The Knicks and Spurs doesn't seem like a great matchup on paper, but it does potentially pit one of the best wing 1-on-1 defenders in the NBA in Kawhi Leonard against one of the best wing 1-on-1 scorers in the league in Carmelo Anthony. It's a sparse schedule, and value as always will be very important in your lineups, so let's see what we can find.

Kyle Lowry, TOR vs DET ($8700): Lowry had averaged 44.3 fantasy points in the eight games leading up to his last outing, but he had a bit of a down effort against the Timberwolves with "only" 20 points and 28.9 fantasy points overall. He has a nice bounce-back opportunity Sunday against a Pistons defense that has allowed the ninth most fantasy points to point guards.

Dwyane Wade, CHI at MIN ($7900): Wade injured his wrist Friday night, but is probable to play Sunday. Over his last nine games he has averaged 22.1 points, 6.3 boards, 4.1 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks. Jimmy Butler is listed as questionable for Sunday with his heel injury, which could give Wade another chance to dominate against a Timberwolves wing defense that is still adjusting to life without Zach Lavine.

Darren Collison, SAC vs NO ($5400): Collison has stepped up as the second offensive option for the Kings behind DeMarcus Cousins, replacing some of the scoring void left by Rudy Gay. On Friday he turned in 22 points, four assists, three boards and two steals in 44 minutes of action against the Hawks. On Sunday he faces a Pelicans defense that has allowed the fifth most fantasy points to point guards this season.

Anthony Davis, NO at SAC ($11,100): Davis is fresh off giving Karl-Anthony Towns 42 points and 13 boards Friday, and on Sunday he has another marquee match-up against another former Kentucky Wildcats big man in DeMarcus Cousins. Davis always comes with the caveat that he could leave the game early with an injury, and the Kings' interior defense has also been strong of late in allowing the fewest fantasy points to centers over the past 10 games.

Andrew Wiggins, MIN vs CHI ($7700): Wiggins has scored 20 or more points in 12 straight games, and has stepped up even further with Zach Lavine out. In his last three, he has averaged 29 points, 4.3 boards, 2.7 assists and 2.6 combined steals/blocks. On Sunday he faces a Bulls defense that may be without top wing defender Jimmy Butler, who is questionable with a heel injury.

DeMarre Carroll, TOR vs DET ($4100): Carroll seems to finally be waking up after an extended slump. In his last three games, he has averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 boards, 1.7 assists and 1.3 combined steals/blocks including a 19-point, nine-board, two-assist effort against the Timberwolves. On Sunday he faces an average Pistons wing defense that has allowed the 15th most fantasy points to small forwards over the last 10 games.

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN vs CHI ($10,600): Towns just struggled through foul trouble against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans, and still threw in 36 points with eight boards. This gives Towns averages of 29.5 points, 11.8 boards, 2.7 assists and 2.3 combined blocks/steals in his last seven games. He should be too much for an average Bulls interior defense that has allowed the 13th most fantasy points to centers this season.

Jonas Valanciunas, TOR vs DET ($5900): Valancinuas comes into Sunday averaging 19.3 points, 8.3 boards and 1.0 combined blocks/steals over his last four games. Being a big center, he does better when faced with other big centers instead of the small-ball game. As such, the Pistons matchup with Andre Drummond could be positive even though the Pistons allow the seventh fewest fantasy points to centers this season.

Dewayne Dedmon, SA at NY): Dedmon has been a monster in the middle of late, averaging 9.8 points, 10.6 boards and 1.2 combined steals/blocks over his last five games. In his last game, he dropped 17 points and 17 boards on Andre Drummond and the Pistons. On Sunday he faces a Knicks defense that has allowed the fifth most fantasy points to centers this season.
