FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

There are four playoff games Sunday but they are spread throughout the day from 1:00 p.m. EDT to 9:00 p.m. The main FanDuel slate has the three latter games, which means they lock at 3:30 p.m. We'll focus on those three games, starting with Russell Westbrook and James Harden going toe-to-toe yet again as the Thunder try to even up the series at home. At 6:30, the Celtics try to keep the road team undefeated in their series while the Bulls look to adjust to life without Rajon Rondo. And in Utah, the Jazz and Clippers are engaged in a game of "my team's more hurt than your team," which leaves the remaining stars with a high potential to produce in Game 4. It should be an action-filled slate of games with lots of fantasy points to be had.

Chris Paul, LAC at UTA ($10,300):Russell Westbrook ($14,600) and James Harden ($13,600) may both outscore Paul on Sunday, but they are way more expensive. Paul has averaged more than 50 fantasy points per game in the playoffs, including 59.4 in Game 3, and with Blake Griffin sidelined, he may be asked to carry an even heavier offensive workload.

Avery Bradley, BOS at CHI ($6,600): Any of Dwyane Wade ($7300), Bradley, Marcus Smart ($6400) or Victor Oladipo ($5900) could have been in this slot, as all are shooting guards with similar potential to Bradley. The Celtics guard earned the spot on the strength of having a bigger last game (36.9 fantasy points in Game 3) and potentially having a better chance to be disruptive with his defense against a Bulls team missing their floor general.

Jerian Grant, CHI vs BOS ($2,500): Grant is a risk because he managed only 5.2 fantasy points in 15 minutes of his injury-replacement start in Game 3. However, he averaged almost 34 fantasy points as the spot-starter in three games down the stretch of the regular season, and the Bulls' coaching staff has given him a public endorsement as the starter. When you factor in his minimum price, he could potentially be great value.

Jimmy Butler, CHI vs BOS ($9,900): Butler had a 25.4-fantasy-point clunker in Game 3, but he entered that game averaging almost 50 fantasy points per game in the playoffs and also well back into the regular season. The Bulls found out about Rajon Rondo's injury fairly close to game time and it seemed that the team was unable to operate well without him. However, the team played well without Rondo for large chunks of the season, so look for Butler to bounce back.

Nikola Mirotic, CHI vs BOS ($6,500): Mirotic is probably the safest power forward pick with the highest upside. Unfortunately, he's not a very safe pick, his production in the playoffs doesn't warrant his price, and his upside is rarely realized rarely these days. In other words, the entire power forward position in this game is very iffy. Mirotic may be the best of the lot, but it might not be a bad idea to fade the whole position and go with low-priced punts and invest in better bets at other positions. Like Gordon Hayward ($8,300), for example, who is coming off a monster game and will need another one to help his team even in the series.

Andre Roberson, OKC at HOU ($5,800): Roberson's price has increase $2,000 since this time last week, but his high minutes while guarding James Harden keep him as a very attractive fantasy options. He's scored at least 30 fantasy points in three straight games and there's little reason to believe he'll negatively regress Sunday.

DeAndre Jordan, LAC at UTA ($8,600): Jordan has owned the paint this series with Rudy Gobert out, and now Blake Griffin is out too. Jordan has no real competition in the paint on either team, and he showed this season while Griffin was out for extended stretches that he has the ability to be a solid volume scorer in addition to his usual rebound domination.

Al Horford, BOS at CHI ($7,700): Horford has been the best and most consistent Celtics producer this postseason. He's averaging more than 37 fantasy points per game, and the Celtics need him to continue to produce Sunday as they try to even the series.

Robin Lopez, CHI vs BOS ($6,100): The entire Bulls team played terribly in Game 3, but Lopez still managed to not be awful with 21.2 fantasy points. That's his floor in this series, as he scored 26.0 and 35.1 in the other two. His price is a bit higher than he deserves, but the cheaper options come with a lot more risk.
