Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After a busy Tuesday slate, Wednesday brings only five games on the NBA. With the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics all in action, that leaves you with several elite players to choose from for your Yahoo entry. Let's take a look across the price scale to see which players can help you come away a winner.

GUARD

Stephen Curry, GS vs. MIN ($49): Curry is coming off of only 33.0 Yahoo points in his last game Monday against the Miami Heat, but the game was a blowout win despite the Warriors scoring under 100 points for the first time this season. The Timberwolves are allowing an average of 49.0 Yahoo points to opposing point guards this season, making Curry an excellent play despite his costly price.

Mike James, PHO vs. MIA ($13): James received some good news Tuesday as the Suns not only traded away Eric Bledsoe, but did not bring back a point guard in the deal. James has scored at least 27.6 Yahoo points in two of his last three games and provides another opportunity for valuable production at near the minimum price Wednesday.

Guard to Avoid:

Devin Booker, PHO vs. MIA ($35): Booker has hit a bit of a cold spell as he has scored 23.9 Yahoo points or less in both of his last two games. He scored only 23.9 Yahoo points in his last game against the Brooklyn Nets, a team that really struggles defensively. Wednesday he faces off against a Heat team that is allowing the second fewest Yahoo points per game to opposing shooting guards (32.9), making it tough to spend this much on him for your entry.

FORWARD

Kristaps Porzingis, NY at ORL ($47): Porzingis is the undisputed main man on offense for the Knicks this season with Carmelo Anthony now on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has not disappointed as he is averaging 30.0 points and 1.9 three-pointers per game. With at least 52.4 Yahoo points in five of his last seven games, Porzingis is an excellent play again Wednesday.

Tim Hardaway Jr., NY at ORL ($23): While Porzingis has been leading the way, Hardaway has been excellent as well as he is averaging 21.0 points and 3.3 three-pointers over his last six games. Not only is he providing stellar offense, but he also averaged 1.8 steals over the same six games. The price is right to count on his hot streak extending through this contest.

Forward to Avoid:

Thaddeus Young, IND at DET ($26): Young has played well this season, averaging 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.5 three-pointers per game. However, he has only topped 30 Yahoo points in three games all season. At this price, his upside is just not high enough.

CENTER

Myles Turner, IND at DET ($31): Turner played his first full game since the season opener Tuesday, scoring 41.4 Yahoo points in 35 minutes. It was a great performance considering it came against the big New Orleans Pelicans duo of DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. Domantas Sabonis (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, so look for Turner to play heavy minutes again and provide big numbers.

Alex Len, PHO vs. MIA ($11): Len continues to be in an unfavorable time share with Tyson Chandler, limiting his overall value. Dispute the situation, he has still scored at least 20.2 Yahoo points in six of his last seven games. If you need to save money at center, Len can provide value at almost the minimum price.

Center to Avoid:

Nikola Vucevic, ORL vs. NY ($32): After scoring at least 47.1 Yahoo points in each of the first three games this season, Vucevic has only scored at least 40 Yahoo points once in seven games since. While he can still have a productive outing against the Knicks, Horford, Myles Turner ($31) and even possibly Brook Lopez ($26) could all provide similar or better numbers than Vucevic at a cheaper price.
