Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Guards

Nicolas Batum, CHA vs. PHI ($25): Batum has been fantastic since a terrible opening month, as he's back to stuffing the stat sheet at ease. He has at least 30 fantasy points in eight straight games, and he's scored over 42 fantasy points in three of his last five games in total. One of those games happened to come against this Sixers team, as Batum dropped 43 fantasy points against them last week.

Rajon Rondo, NOP at LAC ($20): Rondo has been superb since DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) got injured, as he's averaging 32.3 fantasy points per game in his last 12 outings. Rondo has at least 39 fantasy points in three of his last four games, and the Clippers struggle to stop opposing point guards, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to the position over their last 10 games.

Guard to Avoid

Spencer Dinwiddie, BRK at GS ($23): Dinwiddie has been a solid fantasy producer, but his role hasn't been the same with D'Angelo Russell back in the lineup. Dinwiddie hasn't cracked 32 fantasy points in seven straight games, and his usage rate is barely cracking 15 percent with Russell in the lineup.

Forwards

Anthony Davis, NOP at LAC ($58): It's hard to fade someone who's putting up the numbers that Davis is right now, as he's in one of the best stretches of his already-impressive career. In fact, Davis has at least 48 fantasy points in eight straight games, and he's averaging over 72 fantasy points per game in that span. No matter how expensive someone is, you almost have to use them if they are averaging 72 fantasy points per game. Davis has had success against the Clippers already this season, averaging 57 fantasy points in two previous meetings.

Harrison Barnes, DAL vs. DEN ($20): A small slump around the All-Star break lowered Barnes' price to this attractive number, as he's far too good of a player to be priced at $20. Not only does he have at least 27 fantasy points in six of his last seven games, but he's averaging over 30 fantasy points per game for the season. He leads this team in usage, shots taken and minutes played. Denver is a defense worth exploiting, as well, as the Nuggets currently rank 25th in defensive efficiency. Barnes is averaging 33 fantasy points per game in his two meetings with the Nuggets this season.

Forward to Avoid

Michael Beasley, NYK at POR ($19): Times are tough in New York right now and Beasley's recent role indicates that they're starting to move on from him in favor of younger players. Beasley has only surpassed 25 minutes once in his last five games, and he hasn't cracked 14 fantasy points in three straight. That has led to murmurs that he'll be demoted to the bench, which would only decrease his role even more. All that looks even worse when you consider the fact that Portland allows the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing small forwards, while ranking sixth in total defense.

Center

Marcin Gortat, WSH vs. MIA ($12): Gortat has been frustrating for fantasy owners all season, but he's too good to be priced at $12. Gortat is still averaging 23.4 fantasy points per game, and he has at least 18 fantasy points in 14 of his last 16 games, while scoring at least 23 fantasy points in eight of his last 13 games.

Center to Avoid

Nikola Jokic, DEN at DAL ($40): Jokic has been incredible all season, but he's simply not the same player with Paul Millsap in the lineup. In the three games since Millsap's return, Jokic hasn't surpassed 32 fantasy points. Jokic has a 23.6 usage rate for the season and just an 18.3 usage rate in the three games in which Millsap has played since his return. This decrease in role is even more concerning when you consider the fact that Dallas plays at the fifth-slowest pace in the league, thus lowering possessions for a player with an already decreased role.
