Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Wednesday brings seven games in the NBA, leaving you with plenty of quality options for your Yahoo entry. Let's get right down to business and look at some players at various price points to both target and avoid for your entry.

GUARDS

Jrue Holiday, NO at SAC ($34):Anthony Davis is playing out of this world right now, but Holiday has also been excellent. Not only has he scored at least 35.3 Yahoo points in nine straight games, but he scored at least 43.1 Yahoo points six times during that same stretch. He had a 24.6% usage rate in February, which was his highest of any previous month this season, and he has a 28.7% usage rate through two games in March. Expect him to keep things rolling Wednesday.

Ben McLemore, MEM at CHI ($13): The Grizzlies don't have a deep roster to begin with, but they are really in trouble at guard right now with Tyreke Evans (ribs), Andrew Harrison (wrist) and Mario Chalmers (hamstring) all out Wednesday. McLemore did not play Monday due to a personal matter, but he is expected to return Wednesday. He had logged at least 30 minutes in both of his previous two games, averaging 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals. With an expanded role likely on tap again for Wednesday, he is someone to consider at this cheap price.

Guard to Avoid

Ish Smith, DET vs. TOR ($13): Smith continues to start at point guard with Reggie Jackson (ankle) sidelined, but has scored 12.7 Yahoo points or fewer in three of his last four games. He hasn't played well against the Raptors this season, averaging 9.5 points, four rebounds and 3.5 assists in two starts. The Raptors allow the sixth-fewest Yahoo points per game (41.9) to opposing point guards, so Smith's struggles against them aren't that surprising. Although he's not expensive, he might not be the cheap player you want to take a chance on providing value for your entry Wednesday.

FORWARDS

Anthony Davis, NO at SAC ($58): Davis provided a brief scare after leaving Tuesday's contest with a rib injury, but he returned and had a monster second half. He finished with 73.6 Yahoo points, which was remarkably the fifth time he has scored at least that many Yahoo points in his last nine contests. The Pelicans play at the second-fastest pace (102.6 possessions per game) in the league, which gives Davis even more opportunities to pile up numbers. He's expensive, but it's hard not to play him Wednesday considering the hot streak that he's on.

JaMychal Green, MEM at CHI ($21): Although the Grizzlies are struggling mightily, Green has recorded a double-double in each of his last six games. With all the injuries they have suffered, Green has logged at least 33 minutes in five straight contests. The Bulls are a mess defensively as they allow the seventh-most points per game (109.4) in the league and they also allow the sixth-most Yahoo points per game (46.3) to opposing power forwards. Green could be lined up for another valuable outing.

Forward to Avoid

Justin Holiday, CHI vs. MEM ($17): With the Bulls playing for a high draft pick, they decided to bench both Holiday and Robin Lopez in an effort to evaluate some of the young players already on their roster. While neither Holiday nor Lopez are great players, the league is very cautious when it comes to bad teams tanking. After reaching out to the Bulls to discuss the matter, the Bulls have said both players will re-enter the rotation moving forward. That doesn't mean that Holiday is going to play significant minutes though, so make sure you still stay away from him Wednesday.

CENTERS

Rudy Gobert, UTA at IND ($35): Gobert has helped lead the Jazz to a three-game winning streak, scoring at least 48.4 Yahoo points in each contest. He has averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks during the streak, which is a significant increase over his season numbers. The odds of him continuing his recent run of success are aided Wednesday by playing the Pacers, who allow the fourth-most Yahoo points per game (51.2) to opposing centers. He's not overly expensive, leaving him with the potential to provide value in this game.

Brook Lopez, LAL vs. ORL ($15): Lopez's numbers aren't flashy, but he has scored at least 20.4 Yahoo points in four of his last five games. With Larry Nance Jr. now in Cleveland and Kyle Kuzma assuming some of Brandon Ingram's (groin) minutes, Lopez should see more playing time for now. The Lakers play at the fastest pace (103.2) in the league, so any added playing time is a boost for Lopez. At this price, he might be worth the risk if you want to take a chance on a cheap center Wednesday.

Center to Avoid

Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. CLE ($40): The return of Paul Millsap has hurt Jokic's value, leaving him to score 32.2 Yahoo points or fewer in each of the last four games that Millsap has played. He scored fewer than 10 points in three of those games and failed to record one double-double after posting triple-doubles in three of the previous four games before Millsap returned. Until Jokic shows signs that he can be productive with Millsap in the lineup, he's too expensive to take a risk on adding to your entry.
