Bly will compete for a spot in a Lion' secondary that certainly isn'y set in stone. Even if he plays his way into a starting spot, the veteran doesn't hold a ton of IDP value.
Bly will enter the season as the team's third cornerback.
Bly made up half of the best corner tandem in the NFL for the Broncos in 2007. Paired up with Champ Bailey, Bly picked off five passes and added one sack. Don't expect a high tackle count for Bly, but he will have IDP value with his interception total.
When the Broncos acquired Bly in the offseason, they assembled probably the best cornerback tandem in the league with Bly starting opposite Champ Bailey. Bly should benefit from from playing opposite the all pro, because if opposing quarterbacks still elect to throw away from Bailey, Bly could see a surge in interceptions.
Bly returns as one of the league's best cover corners. He had six interceptions and 45 tackles in just 11 games in 2005, and still has his big play ability. He should amongst the best at his postion once again in 2006.
Dre is consistently one of the best corners in the league, as evidenced by his back to back pro bowl appearances. Look for him to anchor the Lions' secondary and provide the big plays that make Detroit a sleeper defense.
Bly is coming off a Pro-Bowl season, in which he had six interceptions, two for touchdowns, a sack, and 60 tackles. His play is vital to the Lions success on defense.
Bly, signed as a free-agent from St. Louis, will help to strengthen a Lions' secondary that struggled heavily in 2002. With second-year CBs Chris Cash and Andre Goodman manning the other side of the field, Bly is unlikely to see a lot of passes thrown his way, though.
