Long, who played just one snap in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Packers, is likely still hampered by a litany of injuries that could prompt the Bears to shut him down for the season, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports. "I think time will tell," Bears head coach John Fox said Monday when asked whether Long will be able to play through his injuries without requiring surgery. "I think last week I didn't feel like he was quite able to practice in a full speed to be prepared. He's physically capable of being active. But again, this is a game where you have to practice to get ready for a game in a lot of cases. So he was active, so he was healthy enough, but I'm not sure he was going to be healthy enough to take 70 snaps in a game."

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2017

There was no outlook written for Kyle Long.

2015

With two Pro Bowl berths in two NFL seasons -- including second-team All-Pro honors in 2014 -- Long has asserted himself as the alpha dog on the Bearsí offensive line and as a team cornerstone. The former first-round pick regularly overwhelms defensive tackles with his strength and athleticism, leading many to speculate that a move from right guard to one of the tackle spots may be in the cards. Barring a training-camp injury to projected starting tackles Jermon Bushrod and Jordan Mills, the Bears arenít likely to have Long change positions in 2015, so expect him to continue to overwhelm defensive linemen on the inside.

2014

Started all 16 games as a rookie at right guard, earning All-Rookie honors and a trip to the Pro Bowl. Penciled in to start at guard again in 2014, but could be viewed as an option at right tackle if Jordan Mills proves ineffective.

2013

The club's first-round draft pick out of Oregon, the athletic but lightly-experienced Long will be given every opportunity to win the starting right guard job.
