FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Frederick Andersen, TOR vs CGY ($8,600): With a slight price bump, Andersen is still a solid play at his price, as he's been tremendous of late. In his last five starts, he's earned three victories in monster performances. Outside of the 11.20 fantasy points in his last start, Andersen has totaled 28.80, 23.20, 30.40, and 29.60 in his last five. He's seen more than 40 shots against on three occasions suggesting, that he has serious upside heading into a home matchup with Calgary.

Center

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM vs PHI ($5,500): While some in Edmonton are trying to run him out of town, Nugent-Hopkins has been one of Edmonton's better players this season. He's second on the team with 10 goals and has added nine assists. With two goals in his last three games, Nugent-Hopkins comes in as a nice value option skating on the second line and second power-play unit, where he has three goals and one assists. The Flyers are a disaster right now and Edmonton is picking up its play with 18 goals in the last four games.

Nicklas Backstrom, WSH vs CHI ($5,700): There is no doubt that Backstrom is having a down year, but he's in a good spot against a Chicago team that is struggling right now. The Blackhawks have lost four straight and are missing Corey Crawford, who's on IR. Backstrom has five assists in his last six games, and — as always — is skating with Alex Ovechkin, who leads the league in goals.

Wing

William Nylander, TOR vs CGY ($5,500): Nylander started off slow like so many of the young Maple Leafs, but the sophomore has come alive lately. In his last five games, Nylander has a goal and five assists. He has five goals and 15 assists in total on the year.

Jesse Puljujarvi, EDM vs PHI ($4,100): Coming off of a two-goal effort, Puljujarvi is playing with a ton of confidence since being called up. He has the benefit of skating on the first line with Connor McDavid, which drives his upside way up with McDavid garnering most of the attention from opposing defenses.

Alex DeBrincat, CHI at WSH ($4,800): With so much young talent in the NHL, it's easy for DeBrincat to get lost in the shuffle. With 11 goals and seven assists, he's having a solid rookie campaign and is playing important minutes for the Blackhawks, who haven't really gotten their game going. He hasn't posted a point in his last two games, but that could end Wednesday night in Washington. Since Nov. 1, DeBrincat hasn't gone more than two games without recording a point.

Defense

Duncan Keith, CHI at WSH ($4,900): Keith is the cheapest he's been all season and for good reason. He's having arguably the worst offensive campaign of his career to this point with no goals and just 13 assists. Keith is still getting shots on goal so it's just a matter of time before pucks start going in for him, though. He offers a solid floor in that respect, along with his ability to block shots. Keith's skill and track record suggest he should break out of this funk soon.

Matt Niskanen, WSH vs CHI ($4,300): Niskanen has double-digit fantasy points in four of his last five games and has been a welcome addition to the lineup since returning from injury. Over this five-game stretch, he has three assists, 13 shots on goal, and eight blocked shots. Contributing in all aspects of the game, the Minnesota native is a solid value play on the blue line.
