Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We're looking at a busy night in the NBA on Wednesday with nine games on the docket. That leaves us with a bevy of options to choose from across the salary scale on Yahoo. Here are some players to consider for your lineups, as well as a few to possibly avoid.

GUARDS

Malcolm Brogdon, IND at BKN ($31): The Nets are a team to target in DFS considering they have the fourth-worst defensive rating in the league. Enter Brogdon, who is averaging a career-high 36 minutes per game. He's been able to parlay his added playing time into impressive averages of 21.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.3 steals. He has the potential to be a steal at this mid-tier salary.

T.J. McConnell, IND at BKN ($12): McConnell is a sparkplug off the bench for the Pacers despite only averaging 4.7 points per game. He's an excellent passer, which has enabled him to average 8.1 assists across his last 13 games. He's also aggressive on the defensive end, averaging 1.8 steals during that same stretch. At near the minimum salary, he could be well worth the risk in tournament play.

Guard to Avoid

Coby White, CHI vs. NO ($21): Injuries have decimated the Bulls, so they could really use added production from White. Unfortunately for them, he's been stuck in an extended slump, shooting 36.5 percent from the field across the last 11 games. Facing a strong defensive backcourt in Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe might make it tough for White to break out of his slump in this matchup.

FORWARDS

Domantas Sabonis, IND at BKN ($41): Big men have been torching the Nets since they dealt away Jarrett Allen. Case in point, Mason Plumlee posted 14 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocks against them Tuesday. After scoring at least 40.2 Yahoo points in five of his last seven games, Sabonis enters this game with an extremely high floor.

Kyle Anderson, MEM vs. CHA ($20): The Grizzlies are going to remain shorthanded for this matchup with Brandon Clarke (calf) and De'Anthony Melton (shoulder) sidelined. Anderson played 32 minutes with them out Monday against the Raptors and scored 30.8 Yahoo points. Playing time likely won't be difficult for him to come by in this game, which makes him an intriguing option given his ability to contribute in multiple areas.

Forward to Avoid

Jarred Vanderbilt, MIN vs. LAC ($15): After a brief run as a member of the starting five, Vanderbilt has come off the bench in six of the last seven games. He only reached double digits in the scoring column in one of those contests and he didn't score more than 23.8 Yahoo points in any of the seven games. There's no need to take a chance on him considering all of the other viable options for this nine-game slate.

CENTERS

Jonas Valanciunas, MEM vs. CHA ($27): To say that Valanciunas played well in his return to the starting lineup Monday would be an understatement. He smoked the Raptors, posting 27 points, 20 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. The key is that he played 34 minutes, so he no longer looks to have any playing time restrictions following a recent stint in the league's health and safety protocols.

Thaddeus Young, CHI vs. NO ($20): The Bulls' injury-prone trio of Wendell Carter Jr. (quadriceps), Lauri Markkanen (shoulder) and Otto Porter Jr. (back) are all out again. Their absences have resulted in added playing time for Young, who has averaged 29 minutes over their last seven contests. He's thrived in his expanded role, averaging 13.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.9 steals.

Center to Avoid

Al Horford, OKC at LAL ($25): These two teams just played Monday and Horford was held to 28.5 Yahoo points despite playing 34 minutes. That's not a big surprise given that the Lakers have the best defensive rating in the league. Not only could Valanciunas significantly outproduce him at a salary that is only two dollars more, but Young could also end the night with a better stat line than Horford at an even more appealing salary.
