Wednesday Value Plays
Point Guards
Tyler Ennis, MIL, $3,800: This is one of those plays that comes with an asterisk and should be checked on throughout the day. The Bucks are playing the second game of a back-to-back set Wednesday, and Jerryd Bayless played heavy minutes off the bench in his return to the lineup Tuesday. Michael Carter-Williams was a late scratch Saturday, and it's possible he could be rested for the tilt against the Spurs if his ankle acted up at all after his return Tuesday. This could give Ennis a spot start or a good number of backup minutes. He looked nothing like a rookie Saturday finishing with seven points, four rebounds, 11 assists and two steals over 36 minutes. The matchup with San Antonio is less than ideal, but Tony Parker hasn't been slowing down many point guards once again this season.
Rajon Rondo, BOS, $5,900: Rondo has been a huge disappointment in Dallas, showing the inability to run a new offense and gel with his teammates. However, he may be turning the corner and is coming off his first double-double in weeks. Rondo finished with 11 points, four rebounds and 13 assists Monday. He has been more consistent lately, scoring over 23 fantasy points in six of his last seven contests. His confidence should be high, and he will likely see over 30 minutes with backups Devin Harris and J.J. Barea both battling illnesses. It's also a favorable home matchup for him going against Orlando, a team on the second of a back-to-back.
Shooting Guards
Ben McLemore, SAC, $4,300: McLemore has cast some spell over new coach George Karl who went as far last week as to say that McLemore was "Ray Allen-like." While Ben has a long way to go to prove that true, it doesn't hurt to get a vote of confidence from your new coach. McLemore had a respectable 20.7 fantasy points Monday and could be in for a big game if both or either Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins (both questionable) miss Wednesday's game. McLemore would be tasked with carrying the offense and gets a decent matchup against J.J. Redick. Even if this game turns into a blowout, it's likely McLemore gets a full compliment of minutes while Karl tries to develop the youngster.
Victor Oladipo, ORL, $7,700: Rarely will you find a player with this type of price entered in this column. However, the pickings for a shooting guard under $6,000 are slim Wednesday. Enter Oladipo who just posted a 29-point performance with four rebounds, three assists and four steals Tuesday. Tobias Harris suffered a sprained ankle and will likely be out against the Mavericks giving Oladipo an even more prominent role in the offense. The former Indiana guard has at least 20 points in six of his last nine games and has at least two steals in eight straight games. He's one of the few guards in the league playing minutes in the upper 30s or low 40s, and he should carry more of the scoring load Wednesday if Harris is out.
Small Forwards
Justin Holiday, GSW, $3,800:Klay Thompson was seen hobbling out of his home arena Monday, and it was revealed Tuesday he'll miss the next 7-10 days with an ankle injury. Coach Steve Kerr stated Tuesday that he's leaning toward sliding Holiday into Thompson's starter's spot, putting Holiday in a nice position fantasy-wise. On one of the best offensive teams in the Association, Holiday should get plenty of open looks beyond the arc and will benefit playing alongside Stephen Curry. Holiday only played 11 minutes against the Lakers on Monday but had games of 23.8 and 31.1 FanDuel points the previous two games when given extra minutes. The Hawks aren't putting up the defensive numbers they were earlier this season and should be a little-road weary given their recent schedule. This is likely the best punt play at the position Wednesday.
Rodney Hood, UTA, $4,600: Hood will likely be one of the more popular plays Wednesday coming off a career-high 24 points and finishing with 34.1 FD points. He's looked more comfortable playing with the first team, and he's been getting over 30 minutes when the Jazz aren't involved in a blowout. Before Monday's performance, he had 26.7, 25.2 and 21.7 FD points over his previous three contests, showing he's developing some consistency.
Power Forwards
Anthony Tolliver, DET, $3,600: Tolliver has recently seen decent minutes off the Pistons bench and is usually one of the first players to enter the game. His results have been a mixed bag with him scoring anywhere from four to 19.1 fantasy points over the last week. However, Greg Monroe (knee) is questionable to suit up after sitting out Tuesday, and Tolliver could draw another start. He finished the game with 15 points, seven rebounds and a steal Tuesday and draws a favorable matchup with the 76ers on Wednesday. Don't be afraid to pair up Andre Drummond with Tolliver against Philadelphia and set a high floor.
Amir Johnson, TOR, $4,700: Johnson remains the starter in Toronto but never really logs starter's minutes, averaging minutes in the upper 20s this season. He gets a nice home matchup Wednesday as the Raptors welcome in the Timberwolves, a team decimated by injuries. It's likely Johnson gets matched up with rookie Adreian Payne, and Minnesota has been dominated in the paint recently with Kevin Garnett and Nikola Pekovic out. Johnson has scored double-digits in four straight games, and if he can grab six or more rebounds, he should easily make his value.
Centers
Enes Kanter, OKC, $6,500: The stars seem to be aligning for Kanter Wednesday given what he's done lately and his matchup. The injury to Serge Ibaka has led to more rebounding opportunities, and Kanter has been logging as many minutes as he can handle. Since Ibaka's injury, Kanter has had fantasy games of 42.5, 39.6 and 34.6 FD points. The key to the uptick in his success has been cleaning the glass, averaging over 15 rebounds per game over that span of games. The matchup is excellent for him. The Celtics have given up droves of fantasy points to opposing big men this season. Teammate Steven Adams ($4,600) has had fantasy games of 22.8, 33.7 and 21.6 over his last three and offers a little more salary cap relief.
