DraftKings NBA: Tuesday Cheat Sheet

DraftKings NBA: Tuesday Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our DraftKings NBA series.

Team Analysis

Defense to avoid: Denver Nuggets at Memphis Grizzlies: This one is a bit counterintuitive, as the Nuggets aren't known as a defensive juggernaut. But there are no obvious defensive powerhouses going on Tuesday. The Hawks are the best, but they're facing the Cavaliers on the road. The Grizzlies play at one of the slowest paces in the league, which means they don't get as many scoring opportunities per game. But the Nuggets are in the top-10 in the NBA in lowest EFG% allowed to opponents, which means they'll make it difficult on the Grizz to score in the possessions they do get. Plus, point guard Mike Conley is questionable to play Tuesday, and if he sits the Grizzlies will also be lacking their floor general.

Offenses to use: Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns vs. each other: The Trail Blazers and Suns both rank in the bottom-10 in the NBA in team defensive rating, and in the top-10 in the NBA in fastest pace. Both teams have offenses driven by shooters who are playing well right now and have a tendency to go nova when in the zone. If this isn't a blowout, this could be the most fantasy friendly game of the night. Honorable mention to the Timberwolves, who also have a strong matchup against the Nets.

Teams on Back-to-Backs:
First game: Hawks, Nets, Mavericks, Timberwolves, Suns, Trail Blazers
Second game: Pelicans

Guards

Damian Lillard, POR vs. PHO ($9100): Lillard has been one of the most explosive guards in the NBA this season, and is coming off of his "worst" game of the year of "only" 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds as he deferred to the hot C.J. McCollum and nursed ouchy injuries to his thumb and ankle. Look for Lillard to bounce-back against the Suns to get back into the race to lead the NBA in scoring.

Kris Dunn, MIN at BKN ($5400): Dunn had two strong starts against the Grizzlies and Nuggets, then struggled a bit when matched up against Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City. Look for him to bounce back against a Nets team that is missing Jeremy Lin.

Lou Williams, LAL vs. DAL ($4700): Williams has been playing excellent ball for awhile now, but somehow his price hasn't caught up. In his last four games he's averaging 17.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 treys and 2.3 steals to outperform his price tag.

Forwards

LeBron James, CLE vs. ATL ($9900): James is the third-most expensive forward, less expensive than DeMarcus Cousins even though he is outperforming him on both the season and over the last few games. James has averaged 27.5 points, 13 assists and 7.5 boards in his last two outings and faces a Hawks team that should force him to play at his best.

Devin Booker, PHO at POR ($6600): Booker was a popular candidate to break out this season, and over the last two games he is doing just that. He has exploded to averaged 38.5 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 boards and 3.0 treys in his last two outings and faces what could very easily turn into a shootout with the Trail Blazers.

Trevor Booker, BKN vs. MIN ($4900): Booker is a hustle player who just keeps hustling. He has three double-doubles on the season, including a 12-point, 13-rebound, 2-block effort in his last game against the Hornets. The Timberwolves' front line is tall and athletic, but Booker just seems to have a nose for the ball and the will to go get it.

Centers

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN at BKN ($8500): Towns has awakened offensively over the last two games, averaging 32.5 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 treys in that stretch. He is too quick and athletic for Brook Lopez and is simply too big for Booker to handle inside, so he should get his.

Marc Gasol, MEM vs. DEN ($7000): Gasol has been the one consistently bright spot for the Grizzlies this year and is coming off of consecutive 21-point outings. On Tuesday, he'll be facing a Nuggets squad with a big front line, so he shouldn't have to worry about matchup issues potentially keeping him off the court.

Mason Plumlee, POR vs. PHO ($5000): Plumlee has had between three and six assists in each of his last five games, which when combined with his nightly double-double potential (10.0 points, 7.8 rebounds over last three outings) and defense (at least two combined steals/blocks in four straight games) makes him solid value for his price.
